HAHAHHA. This is a classic example of Norm's "Being interviewed" technique. Talk shows always have a pre interview off camera before the actually one. Now norm tricks Conan and the whole show by giving one interview in the pre-interview, and then when it comes to the real thing....Acts dumb about what they were going to talk about and throws everyone off except himself so the interview is then in his hands.

Another technique he used that I like was setting up the host to say something hilarious with his semantics, inflection, etc

I think the last time that midget joke was told was probably in 1925 by Fatty Arbuckle. People had a lot more fun in those days. Imagine the treasure trove of material that guys like Jackie Mason can't use anymore. Props to Norm for reviving that kind of humor, although he is probably the only guy around who could make it work nowadays.
