The Palestinians need to suffer a loss similar to the losses of Germany and Japan during WWII, either that or the Israelis need to suffer a similar loss. Talk about disproportionality, Germany did nothing to the US and the US razed 1/2 of Germany's cities to the fucking ground and then occupied them for 70 years and counting. One side (and it really doesn't matter which side) needs to take such a beating that it just beats the fight out of them. These skirmishes (by comparison to WWII) are nothing and will not deter either side from further atrocities.

Mr Finkelstein is not accurate, to say the least, because the rockets were fired from Gaza into civillian population before what he calls a blockade and actually were the reason for it. But even after it was implemented it can't be defined as blockade because the traffic of goods never stopped, would it be a blockade the population in Gaza would starve the only difference from the past is that the goods are examined and for a good reason because not once materials which are used for the rockets production were smuggled in the tracks directed to Gaza some of these smuggles were detected. The other reason it is not and never was a blockade is the simple fact that there is a border passage between Gaza and Egypt Mr Finkelstein conveniently forgot to mention this fact. Regarding the terror channels the Hamas never attacked the Egyptians through the smuggling tunnels they did so to the Israelis and there was an immediate need to prevent these attacks, there was no time for digging and flooding, the Israeli Gaza border is much longer then Egyptian border with Gaza. The systematic, one sided inaccuracies made by Mr Finkelstein implies he is trying to please his audience who is conviced and one sided in the first place. The pleasure which he is unable to hide, he gets from the symphaty of his audience puts his intellectual integrity under a big question mark i
