When you watch Norman you notice just how many modern day comics base themselves on him. The man was sheer genius

They were the equivalent of laurel and hardy really... talent that no longer exists it is so sad .

I think saying they were the equivalent of L&H is perhaps going a little far, but Norman was good friends with L&H, who even helped him find an agent. Indeed on one occasion Norman nearly performed his famous wallpaper sketch with Stan as Norman's regular partner at the time had broken his ankle in rehearsal. Unfortunately theatre management vetoed the idea as they didn't want Stan to break his ankle!

The first scene is stolen outright from Harold Lloyd. The rest is just as uninventive. How did Jerry Desmonde and Gary Marsh get involved with some old tat? It had all gone out of fashion with the arc and George Formby
@RJSRdg2 жыл бұрын
Clearly they hadn't "gone out of fashion" as Norman's films were some of the highest grossing at British cinemas in the period.

@@RJSRdg What goes around comes around. Id forgotten about this comment so I had to re-visit this compilation. I've seen all these films except Follow a Star but I always felt sorry for Jerry Desmonde's character although I'm sure that wasn't the goal. Otherwise he did get some good actors in these films. Garry Marsh and LeMesurier in this docu
