Now, that sounds like rock and roll. For a guitar and amp made way before anyone was using distortion, they distort beautifully. I can't believe that they were intended for beginning players.

Well I mean I see why they use the same amp, it's kinda like having a "control" in the experiment so you can compare the guitars, to make sure you dont sway a guitar from looking worse when the amp is really the reason it sounds better than the other.

Killer sounds from an awsome yet so simple dog ear P90 LPJr/GA5 amp combo. Tube crunch & chime came across really well in your recording. What was it with late 50's Gibsons especially Juniors that made them the tone monsters they still are.

Hi.If you want to hear a 58 Les Paul Jr in action you can't do better than to check this track out. Recorded in1964 (ish) by a great little 3 piece English band - the Pirates. These were the backing band for a British pop icon 'Johnny Kidd' who had a number of top 10 hits in the UK. He's not on this track - the Pirates got to record a couple of tracks on their own and these were released on a single 45. Didn't chart but I bought a copy and so did all the musicians I knew at the time as the Pirates were by far the best 'smokin' combo around. Just listen to the oh so tight bass and drums and over them - Mick Green on his Les Paul Jr. Remember, this was 1964, no effects, just guitar straight into the amp. I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing the pirates live around this time and I can vouch for the sheer uniqueness of Mick Green's percussive playing style - you couldn't stop nodding your head like a demented chicken when listening to him play. Gibson LP Jr, straight into a Fender piggy back Bassman (white Tolex) with the back removed from the speaker cabinet. These things were only about 30 Watts but it would blow your head off.Anyway, have a listen. Check out Mick Green R.I.P

wow ! That little amp kicks! Was that before they did the TV yellow versions?
@davidkieltyka97 жыл бұрын
The TV finish started earlier with the single-cut LP Specials & Jrs. The "normal" finish was a sunburst. I think the cherry finish became standard with the double-cut, then carried over to the SGs.
@guitardudeguy31397 жыл бұрын
David Kieltyka Yeah I figured, thanks..I had a sunburst junior when I was younger..we played that thing til the frets were scalloped, naturally!
