Love those old Ibanez guitars. Total players guitars. And their quality really gave Gibson a kick in the nutz. In saying that, my 79 LP Custom, and 80 Howard Roberts Fusion have been around the world a few times and the only problems I've ever had with them were self inflicted. Still, my 77 Bob Weir Professional, is the nicest playing electric that I have. Thanks for digging deep with this one.

From like 9:25 - 10:00 the tone changes as the camera moves -- the 410 Deville is behind it and the tone gets muddier! Once the camera moves back, the treble comes back too. Great demo. I love my '82 MC150 with the Super 58's.

Cool guitar. Good looking. Ibanez got a lot right here. String angle across the headstock is kind of a mess, but otherwise it'd make a cool addition to any collection. It sounds like it would benefit from a fresh set of strings or a different amplifier, but once again, it is SO COOL to see and hear guitars that are NOT Fenders or Gibsons! Thanks.

I visited Norms the other week whilst on holiday from the UK. Lovely place. Pity they can't export geetars (because of laws on woods) but I still enjoyed the visit. Norms is probably worth trying to get US citizenship for! The seventies...when weight meant sustain and brass hardware was king!

I'm not a big fan of Ibenez guitar's but I love this one, Beautiful woodgrain, and the 2nd song by the GD sounded "GREAT" I wish you'd play more songs clean, they sound so much better when you can hear the true sound of the guitar and pickup's without all the dirt thrown in. Sounded great and a really Beautiful Guitar to boot, I'd love to know what the prices are on these guitar's day by day.

They sound like a gibson (they're big sounding, not tin canny like this video), except they're better guitars. Bit of a hassle to deal with if you want to change pickups, though - strange size on everything except the MC150, but there are fixes and rings to mount normal humbucker pickups).

Years ago I had an Ibanez Artist series, I don't remember the exact model, but it was basically a double-cutaway carved top Les Paul with the same hardware as this guitar and regular humbuckers. The sound, playability, fit, finish, and overall quality of that guitar compared favorably with my real '69 Les Paul Deluxe, IMHO.

Slight correction on the Ibanez Lawsuit issue Mark.... It was never an actual Lawsuit.... In 1977, Gibson notified Elger Guitars (US importer of Ibanez/Fujigen) of its INTENT to sue if Ibanez/Fujigen did not cease copying the Gibson Les Paul Mustache Headstock on their LP copies.... So the lawsuit was IMPLIED not executed... Ironically, Ibanez/Fujigen had already changed their LP copy headstocks to a more Guild like Tulip shape starting in 1976....

It is nice to see something other than a Fender or a Gibson (not that there is anything wrong with them) and it is a great reminder that there are other marques out there that deserve respect. The musician's are great guitars but my all time favorite is the Artist. The top of the line version came with the three band active EQ and for a time it was endorsed by Steve Miller. It was a great example of the school of excess but it was also pretty functional at the same time. Still, even though Ibanez Aria and Yamaha turned out some terrific instruments in the '70's they never achieved the cache of the American manufacturers. Even though an Artist was arguably better (and less expensive) than a contemporary Les Paul, players that could afford the LP never opted for the Artist. I guess it just shows how brand conscious guitar players can be.
