Would love to see you play more of this! One piece of constructive criticism if you do: it'd be nice if you had something like a 5 second reveal of everyones roles at the start of the game, but then hid them for the rest of it. That way the people who don't want to know your roles can look away and guess for themselves, but the ones who do want to know can still do so!

Also, there are 11 fascist policy cards and 6 liberal policy cards. That's almost two-to-one odds in favor of fascism. The average hand should be FFL, but FFF is very plausible with LLF or LLL both being rare. I know this is an old video, but that's mathematics.

Yeah, this is something that should really be emphasized to first time players. Fascist cards are most of the deck and triple fascist is not that unusual. If a Liberal or two come out early triple Fasicst is basically inevitable.

#1 rule of these social deduction/betrayer games: the good team has to do a lot of deduction to win, and that means talking. The bad team wants to move the game along as quickly as possible, because they have the advantage as long as the good guys don't put all the pieces together. Someone who is saying very little is likely a betrayer.

@@Phyrre56 I regularly get targeted in social deduction games because I naturally am more of an observer until I have a solid line of rhetoric to explain why I think someone is sus, and thus I'll often get voted out before I spot anything because after 2 rounds of saying nothing because I haven't spotted a pattern yet, people are like "oh he's really quiet, that's sus"

I enjoy playing this with German friends (although I have noticed that they have been Hitler an above average number of times 🤔😜) It is one of the best social deduction games out there, but if the theme is really putting you off, I can recommend The Resistance Avalon. Was probably already pointed out, but according to the official rules, you are not supposed to talk about the policies, before the enacted policy is revealed. this might seem like a small thing, but actually chanegs quite a lot. Being allowed to talk during the draw phase of the policies, allows a fascist to communicate easily his allegiance to hitler, by saying something contradictory to the actual cards, before apssing them on "Sorry, got three fscist, but passing on one liberal and one fascist"

If you aren't putting every President under a magnifying glass, the fascists will almost always win simply because there's so few liberal policy cards in the second half. Some of it was luck: Laurie getting 3 Fascists 2nd to last turn, and Blair having been forced to play a Fascist Card Turn 2, were the big kickers. Had Laurie gotten a Liberal the 2nd to last turn, Liberals would have only been 1 point away from victory. It didn't help that the Liberals basically voted Yes to every vote: once you get in Hitler Winning range, if you suspect either person being voted for is Fascist/Hitler, vote No, which they should have as Adam was President. There are a few metas in this game that I encountered, the stupides is that the first two proposals should be voted down to get more information about who would pick what chancellor. Which of course means, you explicitly just pick the next person in line and state this before hand. This gains exactly zero information but means the games takes longer to actually start. If a majority of the players propose this, I will declare beforehand that I will vote against the first three proposals. If the red team are stupid enough to use this, they will out themselves on the third round. So the second meta is the first chancellor should be the person on your right, as they are furthest from becoming President. All of these metas are declared _before_ you get a role of course.

For what it's worth, the most important role of the game is probably: Neither the President nor the Chancellor can say anything or use facial expressions to try to say anything about the cards that they drew or received. They can both lie, tell the truth, and be as histrionic as they want after the policy is put into play, but until then they are required to be stone faced. They break that rule right off.
@FinnMcRiangabra
@FinnMcRiangabra Жыл бұрын
FYI, other rules that are often gotten wrong are: When any set of President and Chancellor are voted in, the "failed vote" tracker re-sets to zero. This one is really important. The main thing that the non-hidden villain team gets wrong in these types of games is they do not fail the vote on teams enough. Secondly, when the President gets to choose the next President, the turn order resets after that next President's turn to whoever would normally be President after the choosing President. The turn order does not just skip to the chosen next President and go from there. Read the rules people. It is a great game. It works better when played properly.

@@matheuscabral9618 The most important part of the game is the information economy. If the President gives information to the Chancellor when they should not, that breaks the delicate information balance. Are you one of those players who waits until others have shown their vote cards to decide how you vote?? Because that is another big fail that people do. The vote for governments must be made by all players, locked in, then shown. Otherwise the information economy is broken.

I think it would either make this game so much worse or so much more interesting if the participants couldn’t talk and so there would be no lying or bluffing. If someone passes a facist card there would be no way of knowing whether they only had facist cards or if they chose a facist card, only the president and chancellor would know. It would make the game longer I feel so you would need more cards to win but it would make it more strategic as well I think.

Try out Blood on the Clocktower if you like social deduction games. It's like Mafia or Werewolf... but better.

I always thought this was just a reskin of resistance But the idea that as more fascist policies get passed the president and chancellor become more important It adds that nice pacing element
