Maybe Zuck and pals will go on an Ayahuasca retreat in the Amazon and then come back and decide to radically alter their platforms... 😂 But they're a publicly listed company, so I'm not holding my breath. Elongated Muskrat had perhaps the best opportunity to do this when he took over Twitter. Then he pretty much did the opposite. We need people like Daniel Schmachtenberger to continue getting their thoughts out to wider audiences, including more CEOs and government officials but also to the general public. Top-down and bottom-up changes in mindset and incentives.

Solving all problems of civil society begins with real education. Meanwhile, we have institutionalized on a vast scale what can beset be described as miseducation. In the absence of improving the knowledge and ability to understand of the public in general, we will continue the process of a small number of people in power prescribing solutions and proscribing behaviors with a limited number of people actively supporting and participating. First, solve this education and knowledge problem. Then, tackle what ails the humanity and the world. We have already miseducated at least three generations and are well on the way to perfecting this process. There is only one possible ending if we continue and that is dystopia of some kind and we won't get a choice here, either. the nature of the dystopia will be "discovered".

“Recursive abstraction”: I did not hear Daniel offer a definition but I would understand the concept generally as self-aware thought able to expand, undermine, reorganize, and reinvent itself. If that is how humanity got itself into this existential crisis, this meta-problem space, I would suggest the wisdom to solve that problem, permanently end the crisis, and create a self-sustaining, self-regenerating society and future, depends on contextualizing recursive abstraction with “recursive awareness”; which, to be effective, must be personally embodied, permanently recontextualizing all mind activity in a humbling awareness that expands, undermines, reorganizes and reinvents even and especially your own existence. This “Death and Rebirth” allows the mind to recognize and overcome its self-limiting abstractions and behaviors.

Thank you for this! Schmachtenberger is spot on. What an excellent program! I hope we all listen and spread the word and that there is enough time to implement the solutions. I'm not certain we will self-extinguish, but there is a difference between certainty and probability, and I believe it is very probable that we will destroy ourselves. And to be honest, when I look at our history, and our present, I have to work hard to convince myself not to just sit back and let it happen - genocide, slavery, rape, torture, necrophilia, pedophilia, sexism, racism, poverty, homelessness and on and on and on, and we all know about it, and our leaders could fix it tomorrow without changing too much, really, but it just keeps coming. Right? As part of this exercise we should also ask ourselves, DO WE DESERVE TO SURVIVE? And if you believe we do, why?

43:35 in my view the only solution that can be effective is a evolution of awareness - we have to evolve to non dual awareness - once we fully realize that all seemingly separate entities are in essence one fundamental consciousness it becomes impossible to keep acting in limited self-interest. 36:15 Problem Statement: "If you think about how to solve the meta-crisis, how to design the world better, you have to think about what are the changes in infrastructure that have to occur and if we think about this at a Planetary level, what we're saying is what would necessary and sufficient criteria for a global infrastructure be that is commensurable with planetary boundaries, meets human needs and where the physical and psycho-social effects are aligned with a meta-stable planet?" DS is spot on about everything here. Thanks so much for doing this. Singer’s Drowning Child example illustrated decades ago how we are not evolved to care about things far away in time and place; coupled with how we also cannot fathom extreme numbers and exponential growth, our propesenties for irrationality and bias etc all indeed proves that we are simply not mentally equipped to overcome the challenge. We do need to learn how to circumvent all our catastrophic shortcomings, but even collectively both understanding that and being willing to embrace it is beyond our capabilities. Truly, it is far too late to educate the populace considering the radical shifts we need, consdering the current state of affairs. What we need is to engineer a paradigm shift of some sort; who and how we do that is the question. I believe we need behavioral scientists to figure it out, and some truly wise people to pull the strings to set it on motion; we’re talking Asimov’s Foundation level wisdom here. Maybe we need a catalyst, or maybe AI is our only hope. I have no idea as you can tell, being fairly stuck in the cynical view.

Imagine a world where women validated men who constructively interfaced with the natural world rather than rewarding those who most effectively plunder and destroy it and one will discover a primary inflection point that could change the trajectory of humanity in one generation. Stewardship would happen if it was desirable. It isn't. If that changed, this would provide the fundamental shift in evolutionary pressures that we are speaking about.

Regardez :- “Evolution is a process of adaptation and given enough time and raw materials will eventually produce a fully evolved, perfectly adapted life form, which particular fully evolved perfectly adapted life form will be evidenced by the facts that, courtesy of its fully evolved perfectly adapted state, it will be able to live - indeed thrive - anywhere, at any time, under any circumstances or relocate or terra form to suit; doing so, moreover, without causing or inflicting any waste, loss or damage to either itself or its surrounds, both animate and inanimate alike: this fully adapted perfectly evolved life form will live in perfect harmony in and among itself and also with all other things animate and inanimate alike.” In that we sapiens can “live anywhere, at any time, under any circumstances or relocate or terra form to suit” we sapiens are, of course, this fully adapted, perfectly evolved life form - at least we would be !!!!!!! if we weren’t currently also now inflicting heinously omnicidal kinds and amounts of waste, loss and damage on, well, on everything, both ourselves and each other, and on everything we touch both animate and inanimate alike. Could we naked bipedal apes subsist & reproduce without causing or inflicting any waste, loss or damage on anything ? Yes. By (1) adopting a fruitarian + scavenging diet and living in caves !! And by (2) reproducing at pretty much exactly the carrying capacity of our evolutionarily normal socio-ecological milieu. Non harmful subsistence ? Answer : The fruiting bodies of fruiting plants are not only not alive - so dining on them causes no harm to either the fruit itself nor to the plant which produced it - but such dining literally performs a favour to the fruiting plant - provides a vital service to the plant by spreading its seeds around. No waste, loss nor damage here - the perfect, non-harmful, mutually beneficial ‘I’ll scratch your back if you’ll scratch mine’ arrangement. (I’ve noticed an ever increasing number of thoughtful, ethically sensitive persons are becoming vegetarians - a good start !) Plus scavenging ? Although scavengers accrue the benefits of eating the flesh, bones, marrow & meat of other once-living fellow denizens of our once glorious paradise, they do so in the absence of having to become vicious unempathetic, lethal predators. In the absence of having to maliciously hunt & wrongfully kill other (wondrous) birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects & mammals, scavengers can wait to find their lunch time snacks already dead … or viciously killed by another predator. A tad counterintuitive eh ? There exists much archeological evidence that we were indeed mere scavengers long, long before we became mighty hunters ……. Reproduction ? Over-population is one of the principal - but far from the only - excuses we give ourselves for causing the now fully omnicidal kinds and amounts of waste, loss and damage we are altogether so manifestly inflicting on both ourselves and everything else. Fortunately, in its K-selective regime nature has a beautiful and perfect ‘no waste, loss or damage’ remedy for over-population also, such that any maximally K-selected life form will naturally reproduce in numbers exactly matching the carrying capacity of its evolutionarily normal socio-ecological milieu. No more, no less. In our females, as our primary reproducers, nature has not only equipped them (and them alone) with exactly the correct physiological equipment to produce each new generation - in doing so at precisely the carrying capacity of our evolutionarily normal socio-ecological niche - but nature has also provided our females with exactly the correct kind and amount of knowledge, the exact kind & amount of social & sexual acumen to so do. In any evolutionarily normal socio-ecological milieu we human females would reproduce in numbers pretty much exactly matching the precise carrying capacity thereof. Our evolutionarily normal social milieu is that of the ‘maternal/avuncular clan - which is a matri-focal, matri-lineal, matri-local structure in which there are no ‘husbands’//‘fathers’ (with their always ultimately gynocidal//infanticidal concerns with paternity) only kindly, laid back uncles. Such maternal avuncular structures were the norm prior to the dawning of the knowledge of the relationship of sex to paternity, before which knowledge we considered reproduction to be an entirely female activity. Once males realised that they played a role in reproduction all hell broke lose as men then set about the complete & utter control thereof, which in turn turned into the complete & utter subjugation of women. Genesis 3 : 16 - 24. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in great pain and sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. 22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: 23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. What a colossal, galactic-sized travesty. ‘The Fall’ wasn’t either Adam’s or Eve’s fault. It was SRY’s SRY ? SRY is a nuclear DNA parasite - a nuclear virus. SRY is that little bit of nuclear DNA on each Y chromosome which once inside any egg in any ‘sexual’ species (some animals are not sexual but reproduce parthenogenetically without males or sperm) immediately hijacks that egg’s entire set of developmental processes thenceforth turning that egg from what should have been just another precious primary reproducing female, into, instead, a new SRY-making-and-delivering machine, the sole purpose of which SRY-making-and-delivering machine is to first make as many new SRYs as it possibly can and then next, get as many of these new SRYs as it possibly can into the closest of proximities to some new hosts, such hosts being none other than some newly ripe eggs. The latter of which occur exclusively inside women’s bodies. Sadly - oh insuperable tragedy - these SRY parasites are routinely able to get their hosts, aka as ‘males’, do literally anything both fair and foul to get their newly formed SRYs into that closest of proximities to some eggs. Including the ruse of patriarchy - which particular event has rightly been called ‘The world historic defeat of woman’ (kThe Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State’ - Frederick Engels) The moment a sperm enters an egg we are erroneously in the habit of thinking that it’s a good thing. It’s not. It’s the moment of reinfection of a SRY virus. In the rise of the patriarchy, SRY has been unleashed and has now completely overwhelmed our species; it has caused our males to perpetrate every evil imaginable - including many stupendously heinous acts (think torture and canabalistic child sacrifice) that are wholly unimaginable to most of us - it has suborned all; it has brought us to the very brink of near-term omnicidal oblivion. That’s the down side, but the up side is that none of the evil any males have ever perpetrated since time began is their fault - SRY made them do it. Ok. Solution ? Get SRY under control. Over the eons nature has successfully turned many, many parasites into welcome symbionts ….. Including SRY. Just prior to the dawning of the knowledge that sex plays in reproduction Nature had almost made the relationship between our mothers & their male offspring a symbiotic one …. back to which mutually beneficial symbiosis we must return. Otherwise it’s too late. We’re doomed. So yes. Unless you men put us women folk back on the pedestal of reverential male worship where we belong, we’re doomed. Of course, we women folk will have to relearn how to be good and perfect mothers, not to omit accepting the wondrous importance & power of our role of being nature’s highest possible, fully evolved, perfectly adapted life form. So that right there, dear folks, is our new religion. A good place to start would be for you menfolk to return to opening doors, draw out our chairs for us, assisting us into our coats, bringing in the groceries from the car, standing when we enter the room & offer us your chairs …… We also have the entire Planet to restore back to its once immeasurably glorious, unspoiled state. Voila. With the one exception of ourselves, the entire biosphere is gyno//matri-centric ….. we are the only species which has fallen into the most grievous error of allowing our males to control & dominate every aspect of life - subsistence, social, sexual, reproductive, education, health & medical, governance, political, WAR, travel, technological, recreational, entertainment, religious//spiritual …. the lot. To our everlasting doom.

I saw Daniel's Sensmaking interview at Rebel Wisdom and I loved it. But now I'm kind of disappointed at the fact that he was such a strong position on man-made climate change. There is currently a strong debate on the matter which is being silenced by the mainstream media. Regarding this topic, let's make this assumption (which is not a proven fact): The rise in CO2 causes a rise in atmospheric temperature. Man-made CO2 just counts for less than 4% of the total CO2 in the atmosphere (everyone seems to agree with this data point). So, let's make the assumption that we manage to reduce our CO2 production by half, which is a very optimistic estimation. That would be as impactful as removing 150 calories from the diet of a sedentary and morbidly obese person in the brink of a heart attack who has a daily intake of 8000 calories. The good news is that our planet is not a fat person in the brink of a heart attack. Earth is doing fine. The only real problem we have right now is that we are producing loads of shit and barely recycling anything, while planned obsolescence is the standard of production and is not being persecuted. Yet, rarely anyone talks about it. Man-made global warming is, at this point, a mere hypothesis promoted by TPTB through a very particular ideology. And its only objective is to enslave the poor even more through taxation.

I follow DS very closely and I've noticed that his view on climate change is pretty careful and nuanced. He certainly does not go around pushing the usual leftist political agenda regarding it. If anything he points out how non-constructive that stuff is. But one core problem that I have indeed noticed on his part is that he has never asserted that a proper debate needs to happen, because the science is NOT 'settled'. His whole thing is 'sense-making' and it seems unethical of him to not address that basic sense-making with climate change has NOT occurred. He speaks, instead, as if it has, and that it is a given that it is certainly reality. So your criticism is valid, but at least he isn't any kind of Greta/ExtinctionRebellion NPC. (He has also put out some disturbingly 'woke' attitudes toward race/racism, which has concerned me. Not an SJW/BLM NPC by any means, but once again not the kind of 'sense-making' that we truly need.)

Climate change is complex, to be sure, but fundamentally it's a carbon dioxide issue. There is a planetary boundary regarding how much carbon dioxide can get into the atmosphere before it heats up to a very uncomfortable level for us. Most climatologists agree on this level of CO2 and we're getting closer to it all the time. Do you humans create carbon dioxide in large amounts? I would say yes, but so do volcano's and methane bursts in the ocean, which are natural, but you know, we're definitely contributing to the increase in CO2. That's where any debate has to start. If we can't agree on the basic measurable science then there is no point in discussing the issue.
@S1L3nCe
@S1L3nCe 9 ай бұрын
@@frankwhite1816 No scientist would deny that humans contribute in the production of CO2 but that's not saying much when: 1. That contribution is ridiculously small compared to other contributors, such as the sun. 2. There is no proof that CO2 is the driver for climate change. That's supported by mainstream media and by those who depend on funding from those interested in pushing that narrative. 3. The levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are extremely low compared to other gases (just 0.04%). 4. CO2 is essential for life. Some people but mostly MSM is trying to portray CO2 as a toxic gas but it's essential. As far as I know, if it went much lower, life on earth would be in serious danger. Science is corrupted by power. When you invest time to understand how TPTB operate, you immediately realise that finding truth is an impossible task.

Nope. Not premises. Observations based on evidence & fact & interdependencies.

A bit sad he feels the need to slash on Putin/Russia. He doesn't know enough facts to condemn them.

At least he describes the phenomenon of him believing that, and why he doesn't change his belief.

How do you know what facts & evidence he has? Plus, he only used Putin as exercising power as an example and made no judgement on it.

Disappointed. Daniel talks a lot, but mostly about complexity and nothing concrete. He doesn't directly address the elephant in the room. How to feed 8+ billion people in coming decades when global warming/ oil and other resource depletion/ecological collapse will devastate global food supply? If we need truly singular change in humanity like invention of first tools, and this phenomenal change needs to happen on global scale, to every country, to every person in next 10-20 years - What are the odds? Daniel's equating "technologists" tinkering with genes and drones in basement and equating that to rogue nuclear bomb is sort of silly and doesn't advance his argument. All the problems Daniel is talking about has simple root cause - there is too many people on planet earth, all of these people trying to live a prosperous and happy life and that is inconsistent with what planet earth can adequately support. This is a predicament without a happy solution and unfortunately Daniel just brushes it aside as there being no certainty.
