Many years ago in 1991, I had just received a Mjölnir pendant that I designed and a friend had carved out of wax and then had it made for me in silver. The day I first wore it to work was really weird, I was marvelling at my new pendant when out of nowhere a huge storm unleashed a hail of hard rain, thunder and lightning.....this happened so suddenly and then like a walking wall diapeared only to reveal one of the most beautiful rainbows and glorious sunshine and white blowing clouds....I'm not saying it was Thor ...but.....

I work at a garden centre and one of the first days that I wore my mjolnir at my job, I had an elderly gentleman spot it around my neck. He lit up with excitement and showed me his, it was a beautiful little golden hammer inlaid with turquoise. I have at least one other person recognize the hammer (and other symbols I wear) every couple of days and ask me about them. I've actually referred a few curious people to this channel to learn more this week alone!

The Slavic artifact known as the Axe of Perun seems quite similar to the Mjolnir pendants that people wear.

They come from a common root. Perun is the Slavic equivalent of Thor, they both are descended from the Indo-European storm god *Perkwunos, who is associated with striking weapons such as axes, hammers, and clubs. I'd recommend watching Survive the Jive's video on Thor's hammer to learn more :)

I only recently started wearing a mjolnir, but to me it's one of our most important symbols in modern heathenry. It only began appearing as something that was worn in the later viking age, perhaps to counter the christian crosses or perhaps just inspired by them, who knows? But we do know that it represented someone who was Heathen, a person who believed in and saw the importance of Thor. And in that same period, it was one of mass conversion, prejudice against heathen's and even violence to an extent, so it was definitely a statement back then of refusing to adopt the new ways. Christians of course won in the end, and even Mjolnir's with christian crosses on have been found, and the symbol lost it's meaning and people stopped wearing it for nearly a thousand years. But in the modern day, us reclaiming this symbol that we know held a level of importance to the very last generations of heathens, and being able to wear it in public with no persecution or bigotry is a big thing in all honesty. Christian's wherever they go, Military, Police, any work really, all have the right to wear their Christian crosses, most religions have privileges to wear a certain symbol or have a certain time of day to pray or what have you, I think for us Heathens, the Mjolnir should be our main thing, whether you're particularly devoted to Thor or not, it's still an important thing to the faith as a hole. I see people trying to claim beards and what have you as a symbol and a "religious right", but I think the Mjolnir is so much more important and has actual basis in history and our story. I feel pride when I wear the hammer, and I find myself now looking all over the place to search for someone else wearing one, and I pray that if anyone see's me wearing mine and knows what it is, they stop me and let me know lol

He had tattoos and a decent Scandinavian hairstyle. But! I was glad to know people acknowledged and knew that my Mjölnir meant something. I've come across multiple mjollnir theories over the last couple of years, some are interesting. One associated it with death and rebirth, comparing the returning of the hammer to the returning of the life force or megin to a new body continuing that sentience as Thor or your true self/mind. In light of the fact that Thor wears megingjord, a belt that enhances his strength; I can't help but think of the Japanese concept of ki and the hara. Sorry, it's been awhile since I read it, but I think it's food for thought as to another possible expression of Thor.

I'd like to state that Loki is also the one that commissioned the dwarves to CRAFT these items as well as trying to cause them to mess up. Which he didn't intend until he literally put his head on the line as a reward if they won the competition. So he wasn't just being an a$$, he was trying to survive. However, Thor, Odin, Freyr, Sif... they wouldn't have their special enchanted items if LOKI hadn't hired the dwarves, and sparked the competition. I will admit that it all came about by Loki first chopping off all of Sif's hair. Ok, moving on now. 😉

I've only known a few people who wear them and they wear them as an amulet or talisman for protection, especially if they work away from home. My family has never been Christian, so I don't know how people coming from christianity would approach it, perhaps like wearing a cross, but I wear a compass or a small golden spindle. The compass was a gift from a Gode friend for blessings in navigating life and the spindle was a mother's night gift to represent Frigga and blessings of home and hearth, kith and kin. I am thinking that perhaps mjolnir is for protection when away from home because it will always come back? Then it will make more sense to me why men wore them to go aviking.

This question is respectfully asked...if you are Norse pagan and of exclusively North Western blood (Norse, Germanic, Anglo) why do you still carry an Abrahamic name. Abrahamism has been the single most negative impact on traditional European culture and the European people. Knowing what I know about xianity I would not retain an israelite name unless of course....??? And if you are not of NW European blood what the heck is the tenuous connection to the faith of my blood kin are you claiming. Pagan faith is ethnic ...it is not a smorgasbord for any white person to latch on too. Sharing your dna results would be the honest disclosure action to take. As it is, the origin of my name (greek) is geographically a bit too close to the levant for my liking but its meaning is very profound for my people and my state of mind with regard to the North Western peoples.

I actually talk about this in my Norse Pagan Name video. When I original started this account I chose the name Harbard as my "pagan name" and when I hit record on my first video I felt like I was lying about who I was. I believe our names carry where we came from. Yes my name is Jacob but I did come from a christian background like many modern heathens. My children will most likely bare the name Sigurd, Bjorn, or any other "pagan name" I choose because I want them to have a fresh start away from the abrahamic names. And when they ask me where my name come from I will tell them the truth, about how I struggled in church and eventually found the Gods. I hate my first name, its common, and does not connect me to my current path. But its my name, and its my story. No matter how much we hate our stories, they are still ours to own reflect on.

As long as you are aware how easy it is to slide into cult status using the vulnerable by dishing out rules, secret knowledge etc in exchange for financial reward from any ethnicity or mixed ethnic people, those are non issues. So the fact that there are quite a number of negative WoO videos was enough to consider that your content might well be in line with what I have come to understand from listening to CE's Oakwise hidden history/ethnic faith/xian expose/folkright streams and therefore prompted the Hebrew name enquiry. I technically left mainstream xianity over 30 years ago when I accepted reincarnation and toyed sporadically on the periphery of the newage but could not dive in because something was missing and having found my ethnic gods and the attendant folkfaith I can now see that this was the vital missing part.

Hey my friend, I totally agree that this religion is connected to the ethnos, our blood kindred. It is a racial religion. Just wanted to say that I was born with a heavily abrahamic name and in fact my family has borne a Christian surname since the 1500s. But a name is not necessarily your blood. Names are just a sign of the outward culture of society. I didn't choose it. Just wouldn't change it because it would be a difficult transition for myself and all the people I know. It will be fixed in the next generation I assure you--my children will have pagan names.
