They can't just snap their fingers and make everything right again that was destroyed physically and fiscally. Yes, it's a small blue metro area totally surrounded by a broad and strong rural red region. And over in Tenn, MAGAs are actually saying the exact opposite, that blue NC is getting FEMA help while deep red Tennesee is not. Gov. red tape makes it a long difficult process regardless. In past floods here, the nonprofit Appalachia Service Project based in Johnson City, Tn., has won enough community donations to match large government grants that allowed them to replace more lost homes ... with small frame houses built by trained staff and volunteers ... than any other entity in this area. Even at that, it was about a year after the flood before their little houses went up at Dry Creek near Jonesborough and Cash Hollow near Johnson City. They were prettier and much more durable than the FEMA trailers that went in along with them at about the same time.

Come on people. Think outside the box. Send in the SeaBees and Army Corp of Engineers to construct temporary housing and sanitation. Wood platforms with canvas tents on them and small wood stoves would do for now. Hoop monkey huts are fast to put up. Shipping containers work great. That compound with all of those trailers and supplies is a gut punch to those folks living in tents and under tarps. Looks like FEMA is waiting for forms and approval when they should be pushing that stuff out as quickly as possible. It’s almost like they are punishing those in need for not voting for Trump. The state police or county sheriff should go seize all of it throw FEMA out and distribute that stuff. You don’t wait for permission or permits when people are suffering.

I live in Chimney Rock. There is no help We have been forgotten. I spend my days helping all these old people They have cried when I show up to cut their trees down so they can get into their damaged homes. I had to walk down to the nearest stream for one month every day to get water until we had our power turned on. I have fed several families There is no FEMA. The police and fire departments have been worthless. I do see them setting around eating free food all day . I can not explain to you how sad my neighbors have it. Also the money if you get a loan from them and some of the areas that wouldn't qualify for the hundred year flood zone, it's actually alone it has to be paid back I was under the impression of 12 months or they on your land again. That's at least what one of the residents said that was in East Tennessee when he was reading the fine print. Also the $750 some people are being given it and others are being denied it.

It seems to me that our current president could sign some documents and get increased help out there. I checked Congress' schedule and they have been in session this month (November) but these folks have been without help since the end of September. This is just so shameful. What do they expect these poor families to do???

What happened to the donations made at Concert for Carolina in Charlotte? $24.5 million. If it gets into the hands of greedy red cross, they can " distribute " it anywhere they want.( It was supposed to go straight to Helene victims). That's another"charity" that needs investigated throughly. IMO.
