We have hunted ND for the past 12 years. I enjoy it for the birds, folks & landscape. Pheasants are my favorite.

My favorite is in south of South Dakota near Nebraska. Went with family in early of December. So I think best is early as possible for pheasant hunting to have large number can find. But that depends on farm land too. It has changed over the years what I was told. But still fun. Plan on going this year again for sure. Will be using Remington 11-87 20 year old gun this year.

Depends on your budget. I used mossberg sr o/u in recent pheasant hunting. It’s budget and does it job. But many others don’t want spend that much because of not many good reviews. So I would spend 1400 minimum on o/u so have better quality built to last long time. But again like I said it depends on your budget. I hear cz o/u are good. Just go to gun store and ask for their options. And talk with local hunters if you find. Sorry for long post. 😆

Not enough guys is more like it. If they had more guys they could have blocked the end of the field and shot more of those birds.

That is a valid point. On some of the big pieces, we hunted it was tough to get close enough to the birds, having blockers would have helped.

Pheasant hunting is my favorite b/c the walking is healthy and love to see the dogs work the fields! Hoping to get tp SD soon from CO. Maybe you can provide some pointers on selecting outfitters or other stay/hunt solutions for the Dakotas??

It is certainly fun to visit new places. I generally have done hunts with friends on private land but I am actually considering making videos about destinations and guides that people can book. I was just down in TX and should have my first video of this type, highlighting the ranch we were on.

I would recommend wait till December when pheasant numbers are back up. And check with groups who host pheasant hunting. There also sd pheasant hunting on Facebook group as well. Worth to check out.

No guide. We have a friend in that area that helps us find properties to hunt. I do plan on making videos highlighting destinations and guides that people could also book. Make sure you think of the locals before you show all the public access so it gets over hunted. Pheasant in ND hasn't been great for years. It doesn't have the cover and milder winters that SD had. Most wild birds haven't survived. CRP loss really hurt the pheasant population and the Bakken oil field didn't help either.
