This must be one the best reality documentaries ever filmed. It has everything: politics, humor, wit, fear, racism, camaraderie with absolutely random people, realities of everyday life of common people, getting banned and kicked out, going into the endless unknown (Siberian Tiga) like a spaceship. Honestly, this little documentary here is a tiny model, a snow globe of life itself. I'd give this 10/10 if this was on IMDB. Great work! Thanks!

@@PalitoSelvatico DUDE 😄😄😄 That "drunk guy" is Shane Smith (net worth $1,4bn) who co-founded Vice Media in 1994, was CEO of the company until last year, and still is the executive chairman at the moment. Those are not "some coreans", they are North Korean people, who are forced to work as expatriates in all probability out of their own volition in one of the dangerous parts of the world, sent there by one of the most oppressive regimes in the world. Trust me you would want to drink a keg of vodka with the kind of stress being present there would induce. I have listed 9 points as to why I found this video to be superior compared to other examples of the genre. If you have some meaningful criticism directed at these points or further suggestions of your own perspective, I would be happy to exchange ideas with you. Wow, I couldn't stop watching the series, all 7 parts. I'm American but lived in Russia (Vladivostok) for ten wonderful years. This brings back so many memories... I've known people and events like most all those in the videos (other than harassment by the FSB or North Koreans). I know the Fish-types, the cool police guys who get things done, the woods, the trains, the Золотая Бочка пиво (beer), and of course the obnoxious drunks. I did see and know of some North Koreans there... someone at the immigration office in line ahead of me with 100 N Korean passports to process, my acquaintance's N Korean construction crew, and a bright young N Korean girl taking beginner Russian lessons from my colleague. BTW, that region is the Russian Far East, not Siberia as we Yankees think. Siberia is from the Urals to Lake Байкал. And Shane doesn't pronounce Хабаровск correctly : ) But, very interesting video series....

I don't think the majority of people from the West get this. Sure this is interesting stuff, no doubt, but whilst the white people get to walk away who knows exactly what happens to those people they spoke to. @Learn More They are making this documentary to show us the bad conditions North Koreans are forced to live. If they didn't care they wouldn't blur out their faces. They are saving people and opening our eyes.
@trainzguy24724 жыл бұрын
@Learn More Most facial recognition software primarily uses the head shape and positioning of nose, eyes, and ears to figure out who it is. All those things are blurred out, so I don't think they'd be able to track down the individual workers. Plus, I'm not even convinced they have internet to see this!
@pianoten4 жыл бұрын
@Learn More I agree with you this was pretty careless. The condition in those labor camps in russia ar far better than the internation camps for political prisoners inside north korea. Some comments from some workers are enough to put their families including 3 further generations inside such a internation camp and the conditions in those are absolutely horrible. There are stories from former prison guards which stated that there are NO prisoners without physical deformation including missing eyes, limbs, ears, torn out fingers, single bones but leaving the skin on yada yada yada. Torture is on the same level of ww2 nazi camps. Human experiments and even children are forced to work with minimal clothing in winter from 5 am to 12 pm. So what you see here is the dream of such a political prisoner and I also think that at least some people got executed for this documentary and a lot of those workers got beaten up
@threedots83644 жыл бұрын

I witnessed this kind of lab comp before. I come from China. That was 1970's. My father was sent to the lab comp of remote mountain area. I was a kid and stayed with my mother in my city. I hoped to see my father. My mother sent me to the lab comp area to stay with my father during one school vacation time. The situation of that lab comp was just like these in your video except no phone, TV and books except Chairman Mao's works. The laborers were allowed to read newspaper. Eight people lived in a room of 10 square meters, and they share a small table. They worked to build road from Monday to Saturday. The break day was Sunday. The room was temporarily divided a small space (about 6 square meters). A person who was accused Soviet Union agent lived in the small space. He was a Chinese and he had been sent to Soviet Union to study something when China and Soviet Union had good relationship. He was accused SU agent when both countries broke up. This man was sent to lab comp, but he was requested to write the confession as a SU agent. I saw him wrote and wrote on papers every day. I was wondering how much stuff he had to write. He was isolated and nobody spoke to him. There was a sewing machine in lab comp and most people didn't know how to use it. I knew little and I played the sewing machine sometimes. One time, the "SU agent" asked me whether I can use the sewing machine to repair his clothing. I did, but I was a kid and my skill of sewing machine was very poor. The repaired clothing looked odd, He said "good enough, good enough". That was only time I heard him speak during my couple of months there.

If a “police” officer in Russia ever tells you to follow them, or go with them somewhere while in Russia, NEVER go with them. It’s not like here in the US where you can sort of trust cops enough to where they won’t murder you. They will take you, and beat you, rob you, or even murder you. Always say you’ll stay where you are, and work it out in public. It’s incredibly dangerous. Last time I went with my dad he accidentally took a right turn onto a single lane road, and a cop stopped us, took my dads license, and told us to follow him up a dark mountain to get his license back, we said no, and not until my dad offered him a $20, he gave my dad his license back, and let us go. Be careful everyone! It’s nothing like here in America.
