If she had actually just went to the restroom it wouldn't have happened. SHE voluntarily walked up to a random man looking for drugs! She then voluntarily went to the parking garage with the stranger. That was the cause of this.

@@mrsc1742 She was a 15 year old child. She shouldn't have left with strangers or done drugs, of course, but she did not cause this. The criminals caused this, end of story. The victim didn't cause this. They would have found another victim, she just made it easier for them.

@@kali86222 I think the other comment was in relation like she did not go to the bathroom and got abducted and then sold into the streets. The story is of a person with drug addiction that probably was accustomed to ask strangers if they were smoking pot and wants to join in. Unfortunately, those men saw thru her vulnerability and took advantage. But as citizens of the world we know that there are predators out there lurking for a prey. The issue is not if she is a victim or not because there is a BIGGER issue she was already on the self-destruct mode from the moment she got a drug addiction as she said in the interview 'I was running for drugs and my family was not my priority.'

It is talked about, all of the time. But people want to think the victims are suburban moms, snatched from Target or kids taken from playgrounds. But, it’s addicts, the unhoused, foster kids who are the victims of trafficking. People don’t think they have enough worth.

Crystal, herion, benzodiazepines or cocaine but not weed not ever if anything weed will make you have more anxiety and you will freak out even more but you won’t just forget about your family and take off with some pimps for some weed and if she thinks it was just weed she was being drugged or something. I think she just went on a little adventure to be honest. I wouldn’t be surprised if the pictures and sex work was her idea but she needed someone to blame it on so she went with the trafficking angle. If she said any other drug besides weed and I 100% would have believed this story.

Parents need to know what monsters are out there. And it start with the phone, the computers, and hiding things. The story is so unreal people would t hardly believe it. But at 16 two men hurt her and almost got away with trafficking. If we had t had Life360 on her phone (even after she disabled it) we were able to track her and save her. What in the actual hell is this story. She wasn't educated to not seek drugs from strangers in a parking garage? Didn't call her family, no tears with her crying. Something is extremely off here. First of all, as a parent you can educate your kids all you're able to and they may still do the very same ridiculous things you warned them against. So what happened? It wasn't a matter of bad judgement, it was a matter of her stifling her good judgement. I'm saying she went off for pleasure and adventure. She found it, but maybe it wasn't to her taste after the initial excitement: exhausting, gross, degrading and frightening. Or maybe she found it was for the most part agreeable enough, but she had a life to get back to. And she would've blanched at her appearance in the mirror.

By 14 I was standing around GS parking lots asking grown men to buy me smokes cause women would tell u no or ask where your mother is. Then after meeting not so nice ppl I started smoking pot and would take off with anybody to smoke. Then really bad things happened and I ended up doing harder drugs but not until my early 20's. The one thing that led to all this was not having a good relationship with my parents and also having unchecked mental health issues. These ppl think they know everything about a person from watching a short video on the internet. I have read more horrible and asenine comments on this video because ppl think they're all some kind of specialists on the subject of pot. So instead of listening to the whole story they start defending pot without thinking. And clearly they use too much. As someone who has kids around her age, I found this story so wrong on so many levels. The narrative should've been more about what not to do rather than the kidnapping itself. This is not even about situational awareness since her behavior from the beginning was very risky and illegal which led me to believe she's an addict. 1- Asking strangers for drugs can lead to being arrested by an undercover cop. 2- You don't know exactly the kind of drug you'd be given. 3- She willfully followed a stranger out of sight of the public at night. 4- The fact that she had to admit that they didn't throw her in that car, she wasn't violently subdued, nor they used a weapon tells me she didn't try to fight it like her depended on it. By the Grace of God, I'm happy she's okay but she needs serious help for addiction and risky behavior.

Im sure in her mind she felt safe bc of the # of people around. Social media, isolation has screwed our children up. That only goes to tell you that she has done that more than once after she was so comfortable to do it this time. I mean……. Drugs? Strangers? Access to a phone, but you don’t call? Sigh. Teenagers, be smarter, this isn’t victim blaming, it’s participator “victim” accountability, you can’t go willingly. I’m having a much harder time with my level of empathy with this story. Everyone wants to pretend that she was this innocent child and I find it so contradictory because no one has that energy when a child shoots up to school suddenly that child is no longer a child and he tried as an adult and he knew precisely what he was doing. Jeffrey Dahmer was a teenager once. Stop enabling bad behavior and celebrating them for overcoming horrible situations that they got themselves into, and clearly this case refused to get herself out of sitting next to a phone and not calling 911. I believe that her parents are not strangers to a private detective in regards to her. You don’t just become suddenly comfortable approaching strange men in public, asking for drugs, walking to their car and by her own account, she was NOT shoved in a car. The true inspirational teenagers are the ones who know better who do better and who don’t get themselves into situations like this. Let’s start celebrating them more. This is not a story of heroin. This is a cautionary tale. The truth is we would love for this world to be a utopian society, but that’s not the case evil exist. It is our job to know that evil exist and stand clear. I don’t buy this story. Who would walk up to a complete stranger who just happened had laced drugs to kidnap her to be trafficked.

She didn't call because they'd kept her high/strung out on something stronger than the marijuana she'd originally wanted...but yeah, how she got into the situation isn't great.

@@rustinstardust2094 I can’t see a child who isn’t already used to walking up to grown men and asking for drugs, doing this. I think they’re leaving out her prestory. She was probably already a runaway, a druggie, incredibly sexually active and the problem before going to the Mavericks game. The narrative almost paints this as a sweet innocent child abducted from a game. But that’s far from her story. She is no inspiration. She is a cautionary tale.

And what about her prestory to that prestory. The reasons why she became addicted etc. She was a child who was abducted. You are victim blaming.

Thank you for posting an adult reply of compassion for this young adolescent. Many survivors of domestic trafficking have consistently stated that when big events like professional sports come to town, trafficking comes with it. Children, teens, and women are flown in for many powerful people’s pleasure. One young woman spoke on this as a guest on one segment of Doctor Phil. I have never forgotten the first time I heard this. To this day I don’t watch championship games, Super Bowl, etc. because it triggers my thoughts of how innocent people, especially children, are paying a high price for others to be perversely entertained in real time during the week/weekend of the festivities. Thankfully her parents moved the earth to find her. So many are never seen again. Especially those transported to other countries.

Escape? She stated herself there were times she could've called and just didnt. She was with them 2 weeks and had the opportunity to do so. Nah this was just a STUPID, stupid decision on her part. At 15, you know right from wrong enough to know not to jump in the car w/2 males. While it doesn't excuse them for being kidnappers and ra-pi$ts, let's not glaze over the fact that SHE put herself in this scenario and hold some accountability in this as well.

Because the drugs were laced, she was pushed into a van, and she was taken to a 2nd location, "told" to take a shower, given clothes and put out on the street.

@@betsybabf748She was not losing awareness, stop making excuses she clearly said there was phones where she was at, but not once did she think to pick up the phone and call for help because she was running from drugs and her family. Yes, it’s sad what happened to her, but she is not completely a victim. There are women and young kids being trafficked who are true victims and didn’t go seeking drugs from a stranger. Nobody at 15 should think it’s ok to walk up to a stranger at a stadium and ask if they have weed, like really?!
