If she had actually just went to the restroom it wouldn't have happened. SHE voluntarily walked up to a random man looking for drugs! She then voluntarily went to the parking garage with the stranger. That was the cause of this.

@@mrsc1742 She was a 15 year old child. She shouldn't have left with strangers or done drugs, of course, but she did not cause this. The criminals caused this, end of story. The victim didn't cause this. They would have found another victim, she just made it easier for them.

@@kali86222 I think the other comment was in relation like she did not go to the bathroom and got abducted and then sold into the streets. The story is of a person with drug addiction that probably was accustomed to ask strangers if they were smoking pot and wants to join in. Unfortunately, those men saw thru her vulnerability and took advantage. But as citizens of the world we know that there are predators out there lurking for a prey. The issue is not if she is a victim or not because there is a BIGGER issue she was already on the self-destruct mode from the moment she got a drug addiction as she said in the interview 'I was running for drugs and my family was not my priority.'

First of all, as a parent you can educate your kids all you're able to and they may still do the very same ridiculous things you warned them against. So what happened? It wasn't a matter of bad judgement, it was a matter of her stifling her good judgement. I'm saying she went off for pleasure and adventure. She found it, but maybe it wasn't to her taste after the initial excitement: exhausting, gross, degrading and frightening. She gave me a purpose and I know she needed help too. I will be sober 5 years next month. Trin is still with me. Natalee is a warrior. It’s not easy to speak up after being violated like that. This is not even about situational awareness since her behavior from the beginning was very risky and illegal which led me to believe she's an addict. 1- Asking strangers for drugs can lead to being arrested by an undercover cop. 2- You don't know exactly the kind of drug you'd be given. 3- She willfully followed a stranger out of sight of the public at night. 4- The fact that she had to admit that they didn't throw her in that car, she wasn't violently subdued, nor they used a weapon tells me she didn't try to fight it like her depended on it. By the Grace of God, I'm happy she's okay but she needs serious help for addiction and risky behavior.

Hmmm. you seem to be forgetting that there were two-three men who raped her in a van. The crime was their violence against a young girl, not her searching for drugs. Male violence against women is a world-wide problem. What is wrong with men? is the real question here.

@@homerroad She put herself in a bad situation with bad decisions and obvious substance abuse problems. @@homerroadYes, male violence against women exists. Even convicts will kill you for that in jail. But that child actually initiated the contact by asking them(total strangers) for drugs which is highly illegal. She willfully followed them to their car. I've seen some tragic and violent cases of kidnapping, drugging, selling young women to sex trafficking rings against their will. This is not one of them.

Young kids on drugs... Parents need to be parenting.

I certainly hope you're referring to the boys or men who took her. This girl was with her dad. A dad took his 15 yr old daughter to an NBA game. How many men would r have chosen to hv gone w/a bunch of their friends? So no it wasn't her parents. She made a bad decision by approaching a stranger. She made a worse decision leaving the arena. Im sure in her mind she felt safe bc of the # of people around. Social media, isolation has screwed our children up. They no longer have the tight-knit connection with friends like those who were kids w/o social media. Everyone is a stranger but also familiar in a sense. We think "I'm friends with this person on fb so I kind of know them." No you don't.
@valiasa-di6hr9 күн бұрын
@numbernine , yeah of course it's responsibility of the social medias, internet, the neighbor next door, the aliens ect. to raise your own kids and not yours! How could I even think the opposite? Of course social medias are to blame for a minor thinking it's OK to just like that ask a stranger for drugs and then tell them it's OK to hang out with them never mind the waiting dad! That only goes to tell you that she has done that more than once after she was so comfortable to do it this time. That itself speak volumes of the upbringing she received at home and the parental "responsibility" to this 15 y.o.

I mean……. Drugs? Strangers? Access to a phone, but you don’t call? Sigh. Teenagers, be smarter, this isn’t victim blaming, it’s participator “victim” accountability, you can’t go willingly. I’m having a much harder time with my level of empathy with this story. Everyone wants to pretend that she was this innocent child and I find it so contradictory because no one has that energy when a child shoots up to school suddenly that child is no longer a child and he tried as an adult and he knew precisely what he was doing. Jeffrey Dahmer was a teenager once. Stop enabling bad behavior and celebrating them for overcoming horrible situations that they got themselves into, and clearly this case refused to get herself out of sitting next to a phone and not calling 911. I believe that her parents are not strangers to a private detective in regards to her. You don’t just become suddenly comfortable approaching strange men in public, asking for drugs, walking to their car and by her own account, she was NOT shoved in a car. The true inspirational teenagers are the ones who know better who do better and who don’t get themselves into situations like this. Let’s start celebrating them more. This is not a story of heroin. This is a cautionary tale. The truth is we would love for this world to be a utopian society, but that’s not the case evil exist. It is our job to know that evil exist and stand clear. I don’t buy this story. Who would walk up to a complete stranger who just happened had laced drugs to kidnap her to be trafficked.

Thank you for posting an adult reply of compassion for this young adolescent. Many survivors of domestic trafficking have consistently stated that when big events like professional sports come to town, trafficking comes with it. Children, teens, and women are flown in for many powerful people’s pleasure. One young woman spoke on this as a guest on one segment of Doctor Phil. I have never forgotten the first time I heard this. To this day I don’t watch championship games, Super Bowl, etc. because it triggers my thoughts of how innocent people, especially children, are paying a high price for others to be perversely entertained in real time during the week/weekend of the festivities. Thankfully her parents moved the earth to find her. So many are never seen again. Especially those transported to other countries.
