In this video we are in North Wales admiring the wild Centranthus ruber plants that grow all through this area. This is a great hardy perennial for a sunny position and once planted, will self seed prolifically.

I have this in my garden and don't know how it got there! I buy a lot of plants from garden centres in North Wales and wonder if some seeds were in one of the pots. I think it's a lovely plant. Mine is the red variety. Looks like you had lovely weather on the day you filmed. It's so cold here now and I keep thinking about putting the heating on! xxx

Some seeds could have been in the pots, Wendy 😊 It is one of those plants where once the seeds begin to spread, it grows everywhere. This is fantastic though at it is such a beautiful plant and totally garden worthy. It was such a gorgeous day Wendy. Nice and sunny. We loved it 😊 It is certainly our favourite place to be xx

Although they can damage old stone walls, all colours growing together look stunning. Here in Torbay it's more pinks, some red, very few white. I recently visited North Devon and they seem to have more red this year. What I don't understand is apart from water, their deep roots do not need any nutrients when growing out of stone, bricks and mortar. Thanks for the video.

It's like that in Wales with only a few whites. The red and pinks look so good together but as you say you have to be careful with old stone walls. It's remarkable how they survive with only the mortar to grow in. Thanks for watching.

I took a lovely photo of this plant on my morning dog walk today along the Humber foreshore, even came across the white variety. I would have shared a pic then realised there is no option for that! :(

It's a beautiful plant isn't it. The red one is my favouite but i like all the shades and also the whitem It's a shame there's no facility to post photos on here. Thanks for watching Matthew.

Really nice, I wonder if this is the same flower that is seen all over on the set of Doc Martin? Would you know what that one is?

Thanks. We're not sure about the plants seen on that programme as we have never watched it. If it's filmed on the coast though, it may well be the same plant.
