Yeah i don't think the song needed a different rendition but thats me, but these are the best kind of covers, these are what covers should be! A different person/people, perspective, genre etc. of what they hear or how they would have approached writing the same song. Anyone can learn a song an play it as is, and its fine, not impressive but not special either.

Wrong. Us "hardcore rock music snobs" don't like this because they've taken a good song and tried put their own spin on it and it simply hasn't pulled off in our opinion. What went wrong was that they took a song and changed it from what it was, a hard rock song. Now its just a shitty techo remix and its got no feel to it.

Yeah that's the point of a remix, it's not about outdoing the original, it's about bringing something new to the table.But of course the groupthink mentality will not allow you to see that.This isn't even techno.Everything that has electronic elements is not called techno.

beatsnextdoor you're allowed to like this, the point was more that as a "group of people who think we're better than everyone else" were allowed to dislike it. I have respect for these guys for trying to put their own spin on it but in our opinion it takes away from what the original is actually about. BTW, I think you'll find there's stuck up snobs with superiority complexes in every genre. Look at Kanye West.

I’m barely discovering this a decade later? This is one of my favorite songs by Violent Soho. To hear a cover version like this… I strangely dig it and got into it halfway through. I like hearing a different genre spin on songs, and when they’re performed right, it’s great. That’s the whole point of covers, no?

I don't think it's the best (my personal favourite of this year is either Delta Riggs doing Gooey or John Butler Trio doing Happy) but it's definitely a kickass cover.
