Oh, this looks like a continuation of the previous video "...Skiing in Japan". Again: amazing scenery, perfect peaceful snowy setting, a TRAIN ride (!), great camera work, and fun presenters. My kind of holiday. Or Sunday KZbin afternoon.

The namahage roar is one of my favourite sounds in the world! Loved it ever since seeing them in an old Abroad in Japan video. This time it eas extra fun with Sarah being startled and squealing! And I wa tickled by the idea that one of the guys in suits might be the distinguished gentleman who didnthe private tour - that would be so funny! Also, I definitely want to go on that train and visit lots of onsen at Nyuuto Onsen 😊. And the sake / ramen combo looks intriguing / yummy too! Saving this video for my next trip to Japan, which will no doubt benin summer but one of the great things about Akita in summer is, it's bound to be much less hot than Tokyo!

Inaniwa udon, one of the three major types of udon in Japan, has thin noodles that are smooth and delicious. Akita Prefecture is famous for producing Iburikakko, which is made from dried and smoked daikon radish. It's delicious when eaten with cream cheese. Odate is the birthplace of the Akita dog, so I wanted to go there. The Akita Inu is loyal to its owner and has its roots as a hunting dog. He is a brave dog who fights bears that are bigger than himself. Although the Namahage culture is fading in modern society, it is a historical culture that represents Akita and would like to be preserved for future generations.

i so enjoyed the train journey & wow the shots with the tori gate in the snow...lovely! The namahage reminds me of the german Krampus - the half monster demon that punishes naughty children during Chrismas!! I have never travelled anywhere in winter as i live in a tropical country BUT i just might have to as long as there are onsens/bath houses to keep warm lol! Is it do-able just by taking trains ? btw may i know with this amount of snow was it filmed in January ?

That sake/ramen place looks so chill and I’m sure everything was delicious 🤤 2 of my favorite things lol And I absolutely LOVED the ogres!! 👹 we had learned about the Namahage years ago, and we actually sort of implemented something similar for our kids around the winter holidays We don’t have the costumes, but they’ve seen pictures. And if they really start acting up we have one of us hide in a different part of the house banging and making the noises. Scares the crap out of them but in a fun way I promise 😂

So the Nyuto onsen area also has Tsurunoyu and Ganiba Onsen in addition to Tae no Yu, which you might know from other J-Vloggers... 7 onsen hotels in total. Apparently there's a pass for a shuttle bus and day-bathing entry to all of them available when staying at the hotels.

I cant get over how similar the Namahage tradition is to the real Krampus fest in Austria. My ex was from the mountains and when she was a kid the Krampus would come before Christmas wearing hand carved masks, looking for bad children. They would take them away in baskets on their backs. This was a pagan festival predating Christianity in the area.

As someone in the midst of planning their trip to the area in a couple weeks: No! It really doesn't seem to be "newbie" tourist friendly haha. These recent videos all the TC extended family have been putting out lately in Akita have resolved me to getting an international licence just for those couple days. Now, to see if any of y'all have a video on hiring a car, cuz Japanese websites are a nightmare for a non-reader to navigate -_-'

Man, really? The whole time watching this I'm like "My gosh these two have ZERO on screen chemistry" haha. Sarah is delightful as always and Kai seems like a dude I'd actually love to have a whisky with, but Sarah shines when she's got someone quick to bounce off whereas Kai has these super chill, quiet, slow, "works better solo" vibes. I'm interested to see him find his voice/niche on the channel, because that's something I don't think TC really has at present. Big note, I am making absolutely no assertions on how they are, how they get along off-camera, I'm exclusively commenting on the "characters" they play on TV.

Hi there! I love the Onsen but can you enter if you have tattoos?
@jay2122ss
@jay2122ss 2 ай бұрын
Some facilities would turn down. If you’re heavily tattooed, there’s high chance you’re not getting in. But if you could cover up your tattoo with specialized sheet or something you would be fine. my honest opinion though, don’t tell the owner. People in the bath would realize you are a traveler(and foreigner), then they most likely overlook you.

I abstained from alcohol for many years, favoring a path of exploring/healing with plants via gardening, and also running daily for many years with those toe-shoes, near-barefoot, but recently began drinking at night with my food, first from a fermentation I did with hops/dates/sugar/agave-nectar/yeast/arugula(yes, LOTS of arugula indeed), and then from some old beers I had stowed away, and now my parents' tequila🤣🤣🤣 anyway, alcohol is actually special, and may even aid in absorption if certain nutrients and medicines. DEFINITELY if one has eaten edible cannabis, it helps intra-cellular and membranous permeability of the cannabis resin, and deeper absorption into one's system. Booze is special, just way too heavily-relied-upon and used in a culture/civilization that has suppressed other plant-medicines and exercise practices. Grow ganja, and poppies, and good foods, and ferment a funky ale/wine, and minister to yourself and those around you. We are all sitting on a planetary birthright of garden cultivation and craft of magical sustenance, to share with one another and deepen the reservoirs of life. We are guardian-gardeners, and stewards of life on this planet more than we have been taught to realize. Let's grow good things for each other, and practice hand-in-hand through the difficult activities like rigorous exercise together, with our blessed database of musical bass via technology, and then convene for further crafting and nourishing, and apply our tech-frontiers towards awareness of any cosmic blunders coming our way 🌠🌍 and proceed towards the infinite theatre of joy on this planet in providing-for, and entertainig one another❤ there are some things worth fighting for global-awareness-of, yet no one should ever wish to stifle an individual's unfettered journey, or one's own. We are in eternity and always have been. We will figure shit out, and then some, forever, and ever. Some consensus/collective projects worth seeing-through, but infinite pathways and grace-of-opportunity for each one of us. You guys are a living-romance of friends. Love you Sarah and Kai 🙌❤🌱🌷🌍 onsen-galore. Now get a garden and grow some poppies !!!
