What I don't understand is why are they hiring cashiers in the first place? Like I don't get why the zoom calls. Just have terminals where you pick your order like it's an online store. Literally every fastfood place in my country has like 2 cashiers and 5-10 terminals. It's amazing; you don't have to interact with another human AND you don't need to stand in a line.

That’s not what he said though, he said ‘a concept of where I’m at right now’. Unless you intentionally read it in a way to offend, the implication is just that the person had no real concept of what the store they’re working for is. As in not knowing things like branding, theme or anything beyond maybe the name, and yes they probably don’t know what city he’s in. He’s not wrong either, it’s probably someone who just gets assigned a random zoom call and a messaging app and is told to relay.

i interpreted it as basically alienation of labor - the worker doesn't have tangible interactions with anything being made or sold, they just are a cog in a machine in a shitty call center for (probably) many different restaurants. if anything it seemed pretty based
