I'm in my 20s and kinda on the border between millennials and Gen Z and I work with elementary schoolers, and there definitely are problems with the young kids. I think it's mostly a product of the lingering consequences of covid disruptions (and the associated chaos in public schools which is only just starting to settle down), as well as the continued escalation of kids being raised by being parked in front of phones and ipads to keep them busy (which is demonstrably really bad for little kids). A lot of the people making the hysterical tiktoks kinda lack perspective though imo. The first few years as a teacher/educator have always been pretty rough for people, and there have always been some kids (especially in poor communities) with major behavior problems and low academic skills. I think that kids right now are on the whole not doing so great, but kids can grow and recover from setbacks, I don't think we're necessarily doomed.

I think an even funnier idea is that Kevin Spacey either did kill one, then another one died randomly and he's like "Fuuuuuuuck this looks so much worse.", or the other way around, two randomly died and he's like "Well now I can kill one of them, because thinking I could get 3 people killed is just unrealistic, and noone would want to argue I only did one, so this is free, really." Like that one episode of Freeman's Mind where he argues that the more people he kills the safer he is in a court of law because at some point the body count gets so high it sounds too absurd for him to have pulled off. "Really, you're accusing me of killing 243,000 of my accusers? How many hours are there in a day?"

the teachers all were like 20 years old, so of course shitty kids aint gonna have respect for a child. They are not adults in the eyes of kids. They are big brothers and sisters. So yeah the young adults teachers probably just have no experience with the kids and how to handle them
@--ACCEPT--7 ай бұрын
Sentences like "They don't respect authority" always make me pop off like a CIA sleeper agent, because I think there actually is a trend starting from late gen X onward with the perception of "authority" as a concept. It used to be that those in the subordinate role had to justify why an authority should NOT exist, but in the last decades it shifted towards authorities having to justify why they SHOULD exist. And if you really think about it, it's becoming increasingly hard for traditional positions of authority like parents, teachers, bosses, cops, politicians etc. to justify their level of influence beyond accepting it as just by law of nature. I think the younger the people are, the more they expect their leaders to act as first among equals, rather than "my way or the highway".
