That one's more understandable as it's a person's name, if you don't know there's a "localized version" you'd just assume Jeanne d'Arc in English was Jeanne d'Arc

@@Rezuaq I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that part of the whole explaining who they meant by "Joan of Arc" bit included them describing her as a famous French war hero and saint who "heard voices from angels" and was eventually burned at the stake. And that STILL wasn't enough to avoid an extra few minutes of the exchange student going "Uhhhhhh... I don't know who you're talking about..." And it wasn't out of the blue, either. She specifically started the conversation by asking any of the Americans if they knew about any famous French people. It's like if the roles were reversed and she said, "Oh yeah, I know about Général d'armée Georges. Leader of the American revolution." or some shit like that. Imagine the English speakers not being able to immediately piece together that she was referring to the most famous American of all time.
