No way I would do all of this for 1 cow. I grew up milking 2 cows in the morning before school and 2 at night. I did this from the age of 6. We milked about 12, put the milk in milk cans, then into a big cooler of freezing water.. Milk truck would come every day to get our cans of milk, off to the milk plant and we would get a check every month. Never automatic milkers. Only milkers were my brothers and sisters and me. Feeding them and milking never took this long. Can you guys eat that much butter, drink all that milk and cream between the two of you?? I would close the wall between milk room and cleaning sink to segregate clean area from the cow and 31:32 32:07 cow piss and crap. Also rats will get into the feed bucket if you leave it out between milkings. Feed should not be kept in the cleaning area because of rats also. Also a small baffle to separate splatter from back of cow onto the milk machine. Better prepare for splash and splatter before it happens cause it will be a mess. (I grew up on a dairy farm 100-200 cows milked daily)
@NorthernSeclusion20 сағат бұрын

It seems with only one cow, it would be more efficient to do the milking by hand. It takes so much time to clean the equipment.

This style of milker takes 6 minutes to milk out. If you have your cleaning and prep down you can do this in 10-12 minutes start to finish. Hand milking is more 20-25 min depending on how good you are at hand milking. This machine pulses and mimics a calf sucking so it get ALL the milk out and fast. A milk machine can also reduce debris from falling into a bucket because it’s a closed system.
@arlodewald53783 күн бұрын
I grew up milking with a milking machine very similar to theirs . With a little practice for you and the cow . A person can hand milk that cow from start to finish in under ten minutes. As far as debris , if you good washing there's a very very small chance once you know what you're doing milking by hand . It's can just as easily to suck a fly or debris in a machine milker putting it on and taking them off .
