For all of the fans of LUSH, let's keep in mind both Miki and Emma what they had to face in the music business and succeeded, they made a huge impact as great songwriters and musicians. This is not a beauty contest I could care less how they look. I myself came from a family of musicians and I feel like I've known them all of my life.

My first live experience with Lush was them opening lollapalooza orlando 1991. The opened with "Stray" off spooky album.. that bass line set the tone for the whole day. The filler low end music went away and the the show started with lush. It was so big sounding when they went on.. Pearl jam, soundgarden , ministry and even ice cube killed it. we had a hurricane on the way too. the hurricane was real but we trivialized that shit in Florida . See you in Portland lush! Now that's rich. Emma's first record album purchase is ABBA's Arrival and for some reason I always associated Emma with ABBA due to the closeness in names and lineup of the bands. And it happens that Dancing Queen is on that album and that was my first 45 purchase when I was 6. Saw you in 1991 in DC back when you played Tiny Smiles faster and to a different beat. New EP is very good and cold out-of-the blue discovered it 1 day after release after not thinking of Lush for years.

I like this interview format. Interesting. Those women created (wrote, sang, played guitar) for some of my life's favorite songs. Seriously. Favorite song of my life: "Breeze." Those women created a song that greatly impacted my life ("hot summer’s kiss, cloudless bliss burns my tongue") and I thank them. Another song that I have shared with many people to get them through a tough time is "Lit Up." And I adore MONOCHROME, NOTHING NATURAL, and LIGHT FROM A DEAD STAR (they sang about abandonment like nobody I knew).

I've seen modern interviews with the girl members of Human League, Thompson Twins, and these gals in Lush, who are happy to just be comfortable, sassy, middle-aged woman you'd bump into at the market and chat up for a while. The UK has a much more healthy attitude towards aging pop/rock stars than we have in the USA. No more getting dolled up. I just wanna get some curry take out and relax (although Tanya from Belly is still at it, but that's just not for everyone).

@@purefoldnz3070 Naturally, Miki kept up her image as the frontwoman, the member that fans know best, casual listeners often recognise; her outgoing nature made this, and likely helped her looks. Emma, continued to be the "introvert", especially in 2016. The casual listeners probably didn't know her name, and she rarely put herself in the spotlight, but focused on her sound and playing instead of her looks; and is, IMO, the better songwriter of the two.

Cool people, great band and great memories! When I was 12 I already knew the music of some 4AD artists: Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, Wolfgang Press and was going deeper into their discographies... How great is to know in 1987 (aged 8) those artists which were so different to the mainstreams listened by kids of that time (Modern Talking, Michael Jackson, Madonna etc.) Unfortunately I heard about the Lush first in 1996 (ladykillers, more radio friendly play) but checked that their previous works were more common to Robyn Guthrie works and BAM! Thank You! That's a great music together with other shoe gaze artists I already had in my tape collection (MBV, Ride) Now my very young kids are introduced to Lush music and other great artists who deserve to be played.

@@BlackPrimeMinister I think when the touchstones of youth, beauty, and culture shift, change, and age, the shock of impermanence freaks some people out. When those same people haven't learned the grace and manners that time or a respect-based upbringing can teach, they blurt things out, like a child. They may be a child, who can tell on these anonymous threads? Getting old may be a privilege, but, my gosh, these women were lovely and fresh in the bloom of their youth. In comparison to their 2016 status, I can see how aging can be thought of in a negative sense. The loss of naivete is disillusioning and heart-breaking, but not an excuse for bad manners.
