thanks :) It's highly efficient. I've seen it as a guide as well. If the group encounters some "trouble"... medical issues, delays etc, the groups tend to bond faster

Thx for the tour of Your Albin Vega and also your voyage to Sweden & Denmark. My wife and I cruised on a Princess Cruise Ship about 12 years ago from Dover to St. Petersburg stopping in Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Rostock and back to Dover. Loved the trip! My wife’s Grandmother is from north of Oslo, about 2 hours. Unfortunately, we did not have sufficient time to visit the home farm. We did plan a Norwegian Fjord Cruise for 2018 but had to cancel due to my Wife’s health deteriorating. She is now in a Dementia care facility and I have rebooked the trip for next summer.

Hello Pål! Thanks for the videos. I am going through many of them;) Im also looking at the Albin Vega. But at the same time there is a nice Bianca 27 in Germany. Unfortunately I cannot use Blocket since you have to be in Sweden or Norway for access but it is torture to see how many great shape cheap boats there are there! I grew up sailing in Florida (homeland) and crewed a boat crossing the Atlantic but buying a first time boat is soooo intimidating! And I have never been the captain haha I live in Latvia now so I can relate to the sailing in the videos. Not like the ones in the Caribbean wearing mostly their tanned skinned. But hopefully find a boat to get to those places;) Well from northerner to northerner Happy Spring! and good sailing this season!
@norwaywithpal2 жыл бұрын
Hei Clare, Bianca 27 is a nice boat, similar to the Vega. I have not sailed on a Bianca, but I remember looking at them when I was looking for a small but sturdy boat. Remember that if you buy a boat in Norway you have to pay tax on it if you import it into the EU. I bought mine in Sweden, so I had to pay 25% tax getting the boat here. Still, the price in Sweden was quite low so it turned out a pretty good total price. Scandinavians usually take good care of their boats, so plenty of nice ones here as you point out, and once you get under 30 feet the price drops drastically. Most people want bigger boats, but they are not better of course ;) When buying a boat look for one with a decent engine, fairly new rigging, and make sure the underwater hull looks nice. Also look for leaks etc inside. A good spring to you as well, and I hope you'll find your dream boat soon!

I just got my self un Albin Vega 27 1976 .. good condition. I love it . Only is very difficult leaving the marina..almost impossible to go backwards.. what to do 🙏
@norwaywithpal4 жыл бұрын
That's great, I hope you'll enjoy the boat! Backing with a Vega is a challenge, but don't worry, with time you will learn how she responds to the propeller (prop walk), and you will find techniques of how to get out of berths etc. Sometimes it needs some manual pushing of the boat to get her into the right position, using ropes. Also, the wind and the current has a lot to say.

Hi Pål! Thanks for sharing, very nice video! I was a bit surprised when you mentioned you replaced your Maxi with a smaller boat. I'm not a boat owner yet but was contemplating options and thought that 30-33ft is a pretty optimal size, heard only good things about Maxi boats. In what way did it turned out ot be too big? Would you recommend Albin Vega over it now having experienced both? Tusen takk!
@norwaywithpal Жыл бұрын
Hi there! I lived on my maxi, but when I moved on land I figured I could do with a smaller boat. Nothing negative to say about the maxi. It’s a fun boat to sail ! But not as sturdy as the Vega :)

Cheers for video, I'm looking at a Vega next week. Hope you don't mind but just a tiny language correction... in English we say inexperienced not unexperienced. Trying to lean Italian myself (badly!) and appreciate people correcting me so hope that's ok. Fair winds.
@norwaywithpal4 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for your comment and the language correction, I actually appreciate that. In Norwegian "inexperienced" is "uerfaren" , ,so I think that is why I assumed is was "u" and not "i" :) Anyway, good luck on buying a Vega, it's an excellent boat!

im going to look at a boat tomorrow, same boat as that. but im thinking of living in it. do you think it could be done?
@norwaywithpal3 жыл бұрын
Yes for sure it can be done. No problem. Only thing is that there is not much of standing height inside. I lived on my previous boat (Maxi 999), and was able to stand inside. But if that is not important for you, then the Vega can be a good liveaboard, but with reduced over all comfort to living on a bigger 33+ foot boat of course

Hey Pål, thanks for making this video. As some other people from the comments, I am looking into buying a Vega. I am quite tall (1.90) and I am wondering, if the V berth in the front is long enough for me. Maybe you could let me know how long it is? Thanks in advance and cheers :)
@norwaywithpal3 жыл бұрын
Hei Jean, great that you are thinking of buying a Vega :) I’m 189 myself. I believe the V berth is 200 cm. At least I am able to stretch out fully. Luckily my girlfriend is not so tall, but if she was 175-180 it could have been a bit cramped down at the end… Try go see one and lay down in it to get a feel.

@@subarcticlife445 Oh yea, I've seen all the episodes of Tarka :)
@norwaywithpal3 жыл бұрын
@@subarcticlife445 I actually bought mine of blocket. I paid 75k, but she came with a new Volvo d-13 engine. She did not have much special equipment, but the boat overall was in a very good condition and taken good care of by the owner. I think it all comes down to your budget and how much/little of work you want to do on her to get her ship shape...which she needs to be for a circumnavigation. 75k is actually not a lot for a sturdy sailboat in a good condition. If you move a couple of foot up in size the prices can increase quite dramatically.
