The purge is more so to keep bottle pressure at the correct range in psi that way you don’t lean out the air fuel mixture upon nitrous injection

The real reason to purge a nitrous bottle. Bottle warmer brings the pressure up...purge brings it down...pressure control

@@Shepherd-wp5ds Totally. I was agreeing with you. Having control of bottle pressure is very important. This is the reasons you see intakes blow right through hoods. Lean backfire! One of the possible causes is bottle pressure being too high, just like you're saying!

NOS is liquid when pressurized not when it heats up. Its like a co2 cartridge its liquid when stored in a canister but when you release that preasure it turns into a vapor. Therefore when nos is used it is used as a vapour. The vapour is a good thing for cooling aswell. The purge is mainly for show but is used to clear your solenoids when you install a new bottle or open the tap on your bottle so that when it is used its instant instead of purging the system into the cylinders and then not doing anything until purged.

Yeah but the entire reason it turns into a vapor is because it’s heating up. The pressure inside the canister causes it to stay below that temperature

Until the day there's an air pocket by the fuel solenoid and now you get an extreme lean condition. Purge both through the engine after the burnout before staging in neutral. Completely harmless when done right even at extreme levels. And doesn't let the other person know what your packing

Really it’s used to drop your bottle pressure to around 950 psi. You heat the bottle to around 1100 psi now you have to drop it to 950 to make sure the shot is the same

Or if you've overfilled a bottle, or it's a hot day, purging will bring the bottle pressure back down to optimal pressure for proper nitrous/fuel ratio...

To a certain degree he's not wrong but thats not the actual purpose to a purge line. A purge line was made to remove any air pockets out of the line so the nitrous oxide has a clear path to the engine and wont set a backfire thru the engine. The disadvantage of doing so you lose bottle pressure (aka PSI) but this is a good thing cause if the nitrous is too pressurized you can have a backfire or engine failure. Overall check your nitrous system requirements and make sure you cross ur T's and dot ur I's. I could go on forever but this pretty much somes it up.

On many degrees he's terribly wrong. 1. No system injects liquid nitrous. 2. Wet systems means gas is also being sent through the fogger with the NO2. 2b. Wet systems are typically at the manifold. 3. Dry systems can be installed further up before the throttle body keeping heat out of the system. Bonus: if you managed to get liquid NO2 into a cylinder. The pressure it would create as it picked up the heat from the walls (on top of the compression cycle) would cause predet if you're lucky, ruin shit if you're not. Think "heating a bottle" but to 300-400 degrees.

Nitrous isn't liquid. It's literally in a gaseous state. Why they call it wet is because it's mixed in with your fuel supply. When it's dry it's being supplied to your intake manifold with oxygen and other gasses.

This guy was cringe af and wrong on so many levels. To clarify, wet systems inject fuel and NO2 through the nitrous system. Nothing on the regular fuel system changes. It's "wet" because you send gas and NO2. This is also why wet systems are installed on the manifolds where dry systems will be further out. The fact he tried to say "liquid nitrous" was just fuckin hilarious. If you somehow managed to have liquid NO2 make it into a cylinder, the amount of extra pressure as it pulls heat off the cylinder walls would ruin engines. Not to mention you'd start getting microcracking in your cylinder walls if super subzero liquid NO2 was hitting the cylinders.

Your point about air to fuel ratio staying correct is wrong. The ecu (or carb) is tuned to have the optimal afr for gas, which is a little under 14.7 if you’re tuning for power. Nitrous oxide actually likes to run richer. This means that if you replace part of the gas going to the injectors with nitrous, your engine will run lean, and probably overheat. Instead, you just want to chuck your nitrous into the air intake, making the engine run richer.

Dry N2O = Intake spray - more difficult, more forgiving Wet N2O = Fuel spray - easy and cheap, may see your engine perform an unintentional rapid disassembly down the track.
