I played this a decade ago on my ps1 and I'm telling you I couldnt get passed the necropolis lmao not because I didnt know to solve the puzzle but because I was so scared back then as a kid, even the menu screen gived me the creeps and the intro too but after some years I managed to gathered my courage and beat the game. Best vampire/gothic game I ever played

Thank you for bringing the kickstarter update to my attention. Not having been able to afford to pledge back then but being able to now, I thought it was too late, but thanks to them allowing late backers I got to secure a physical copy of The Dead Shall Rise! If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have been aware and clicked on the link to see this was the case. Having my name immortalized within one of my favorite 2 franchises fulfills me with joy I can only describe as having crossed out 3 things on my bucket list in one go. :) What a time to be a LoK fan. Quick extra comment: I love the way the Reaver shines it's light even in it's base state without the Light or Fire Reaver. In the base games they don't really illuminate the area around Raziel like this. :) (seen in the image of Raziel meeting Kain at the Pillars)

The irony of finding this video on the very same day that I finally managed to complete my legacy of Kain collection again. Over the last year and a 1/2 years I have been trying to get back the series on PlayStation 1 and 2 and just today I was finally able to get myself a copy of defiance! I can hardly wait for the Soul reaver remastered versions to be released.

Melchiah's circular eyes in the original SR1 are non-functioning alpha channel and should have probably worked as a shine with opaque borders. The remastered version is quite faithful to the original design. Dumah looks great but I somewhat hope they make his armor texture a little bit dirtier and beaten, he is a warrior and also he lied there for ages.

6:38 what's crazy is that we've never explored the east side of Nosgoth. maybe in a new sequel? O_O EDIT: 19:17 honestly, I feel like they could have done better with Moebius. in the original, (SR2) he has very big eyes/smiling grin, which in turn allows him to have very expressive facial expressions....... almost as if he was mo-capped. this new model looks very stiff.

Make the spectral reaver look the same across the two games and choose the drill-like version of it from SR1, please! It's way better than that spiky, pointed crystal. If The models of Kain and Raziel are the same across the two games, so should be the spectral reaver.

The statues could be Raziel's members of his clan that never appeared in the wholes games and was destroyed by kain. They must be more approached and perhaps a spin-off about Raziel's clan in future games..

I find it interesting that the developers decided to keep Rahabs eyes yellow instead the traditional vampire red to align with the accuracy. Nevertheless, a fun game indeed. One small change to Raziel's model that i'd like, is for his talons to be a bit more pointy and grimy, they look a little clean and dull in my opinion. still super excited for this game though!

I do want to see them change the wraps on their arms.. I need to get more of the impression of the wraps being almost bound to the skin not burned.. Or melted but just one with whats left of his flesh.. I just dont get that impression from the model currently. The wraps are a little to thick their clean in comparison to the ones in the original Soul Reaver. If its one thing id suggest a tweak to out of what weve seen its that.. As they are works for Kane.. They dont work for Raziel.. He is a corpse. A saved corpse but a corpse none the less.. His wraps were on his body as his flesh was burned in the well of souls.. They should feel appropriately 'bound' to that flesh dirty and a little bloody. Just as the textures imply in the original game. Im okay with most of the rest ive seen. I do think some of the 'horror' is lost in some of the undated models. But they are working with PS1 i understand this is a remaster not a remake. As long as the original graphics are there unchanged to flip back and forth ill be more than happy.

The design of Kain as a model in Defiance was disappointing. He looked like a classic bodybuilder on a high protein diet. Not at all like a dry, sinewy, thousand year old vampire with demonic body features. What prevented the creators of this game from taking the character model from SR2 is beyond me. I hope this mistake is not repeated.
