The guy you're referring to as Merlin is Cogliostro, a former Hellspawn who it is revealed later was actually Cain, you know the guy that killed his brother Abel in the Bible. Makes it a lot cooler than being Merlin I think. Plus, he was created by Neil "Sandman" Gaiman.

Exactly! As a millennial myself, I can name the people in my age group who haven't been diagnosed with anxiety/depression on one hand. Baby Boomers talk about how easy everything is while everyone in my gen is just 'you guys HAD it easier when you were my age!' Statistically (if anyone wants to see my point) you could buy a house with one persons income during the baby boomers generation, you could go to and finish Uni and NOT be in debt. My gen needs a group to afford an apartment, and most of us are already in debt from university before we hit 25, not from poor money handling, but from inflation. Sorry just, I can't help but discuss this, I'm just really glad someone shares my opinion.

I'm a Spawn diehard fan. I got into the comics when I was 6 or so, alongside Predator and those two were the most badass and entertaining comics for me. So...it broke my heart when the Spawn movie ended up sucking HORRIBLE. I mean, they had an adult animated movie that was fucking amazing....and then they shit out this POS. The practical effects, makeup and animatronic for Violator are impressive and I LOVE Martin Sheen & John Leguizamo, everything else is a POS :/. Spawn truly needs some justice done to him, esp since he's fallen out I feel. Curse of Spawn is my favorite from the Spawn comics, would be interesting if that was ever made into a animated film. Which is exactly how Spawn needs to be done, not every comic book movie needs to be done live action. Hell, Flashpoint Paradox and Mask of the Phantasm are amazing films imo and with the Killing Joke, I think it stands that majority of comic book characters are just too out there, or impractical to do well enough for live action film making.
@TribulationGuild8 жыл бұрын
+Nikki S. (Nickywhat) Speaking as someone who has my signed issue #1 sitting on a shelf behind me, the movie obviously was a disappointment, but so was the fact that Todd decided to keep the series going after it had the most perfect ending with Armageddon, and the great writer that is David Hine and the amazing art of Philip Tan were gone. But honestly, if there were _any_ time in which a remake of Spawn would fit perfectly, it would be today in our era of Netflix R-rated series' and all kinds of barely-recognized IPs getting their own movies and series. Of course, I know no one is actually shopping Spawn as an IP out to any studios, but I think if someone did bring it to producers, it could probably be made (and faithfully) in a heartbeat.

Part of the problem with Priest was that she was was a last minute insertion into the story. McFarlane originally had Chapel from Rob Liefeld's Youngblood comics as the assassin that killed Al Simmons, but eventually McFarlane and Liefeld weren't getting along anymore, and he retconned Priest as Spawn's killer instead of Chapel, and even changed it in the comic books. static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/6/67602/2048599-07chapel.jpg Her first appearance in the comics was around the same time the movie came out, so she wasn't a particularly well developed character. She's more of a "contractually obligatory inserted character."

I loved this movie as a kid, my dad showed it to me when I was nine.

If you're still listening to comments, can you review that terrible Country Bear Jamboree movie from the early 2000s? It's one of the worst things I've ever seen.

I still think that Spawn was fun... silly fun, but fun none the less.

DC already proved that practical costumes, no matter how supernatural, can still work! Blumhouse has NO EXCUSE to not make practical costumes for these characters.

I liked Blade II better, but Blade was pretty good. Spawn? Just watch the HBO series and read the comics.

There was a lot of hype for spawn, especially in the comic book community. I live in Australia so I assume it was world wide. I remember waiting for the release when I never cared about release dates at the time.
