Come for a tour as we visit the StopTech facility where big brakes kits are made and engineered. You'll learn why bigger is not always better, why one caliper doesn't fit all and the strict quality control that StopTech adheres to produce one of the best big brake kits on the market.

I love the manufacturer tours, it makes you appreciate the work put into their products and also makes you feel good about your hard earned money spent. You should do tours on wheel manufacturers, show consumers why it may be worth spending more for quality wheels.

do not buy rep wheels. oems like enkei make wheels for auto manufacturers. that means their wheels won't crack if you hit a bump or pothole within reason. this also means they cost more. cheap rep wheels will break on you

Phantom Driven - Cars, RCs, and Lego Technic you should look into some mechatronics courses. I'm an ME that took the mechatronics concentration path at Cal Poly instead of HVAC or general. First job was with a major CNC machine tool builder, and I got some pretty cool gigs thrown my way because of the additional electronics training I have. HVAC and general will always be in demand, but if that isn't where your interests lie then mechatronics is a great option and there are a ton of opportunities in the field, and they'll only continue to grow.

I have bought two set of Stoptech BBKs for cars I owned before. Awesome product with reason price. I am thinking about buying another one for the car I just bought. If you are not confident with the brake on your car, just get a BBK. On my previous build, I did everything I could to keep my brake cool on track. But at the end it was totally waste of money. They still overheat like crazy. I should have just bought BBK at first time.

Greg is a beauty. The knowledge he's learned through working and training came out in his tour. The manufacturing side itself is pretty straightforward, the thought process going in to selection of methods and materials is where the real R&D comes in to play. People in that industry must know all of this, nice to get an insight into that knowledge. An annotation in the movie for the name of people involved would be nice.

On my third vehicle (Si, Tsx, 4Runner) running StopTech Street pads for spirited and daily driving. Love the bite and brake feel I get from them. A very positive feel giving you confidence in breaking. They are a bit dusty but that is expected from a more aggressive pad. It's great to see where/how they are made and the faces behind the company.

I wasn't much of a fan of Stoptech products until I saw this video and all the r&d that goes into their products. Now I'm torn between a set of Spoon calipers+giro disc rotors vs a Stoptech bbk. Thanks for the indecision Speed Academy! 😄
@sovan781
@sovan781 7 жыл бұрын
ayowser01 spoon name alone add $$$ to cost since they are based from japan and spoon uses nissen calipers , i chose stoptech over spoon due to it made here in the usa which if i need rebuild parts, pads, hardware i would contact stoptech and get my parts in no time . Spoon calipers are good but cant justify for the jdm name price tag

I put a set of StopTech rotors and pads, as well as steel braided lines, on my MR2. they are great and made a huge improvement over stock. I did not go for a big brake kit as I do not do a lot of track days and I had thought about the weight as well. This was a very cool video to watch.

All brakes calipers have a natural tend to pull outwards when the friction is applied, which is why a company in australia developed a fitting which eliminates that pulling to the outside when brakes are applied and thus longer life for your pads no matter what type of brakes you have,which is bugatti has the system on their cars . :)

I loved the content; it was well presented and interesting although way above my intellectual pay scale. However, I know that it's juvenile but I snickered during the whole early parts of the video...I mean, who wouldn't like to be able to put "PhD of Friction" at the bottom or top of any document? Or, a t-shirt saying "Friction Lab Technician"?? Also, I LOVED the blue on the caliper they checked out on the line. Kinda close to Ecurie Ecosse blue but with no metallic. COOL!

Awesome video! "Being the simple man that I am, I'm drawn to the largest caliper!" AMEN! lol Had a couple technical questions: -Since the Fr/Rr distribution is important, are the kits sold for all four corners (wouldn't adding bigger front brakes offset the Fr/Rr %?) -Would have been neat to hear Greg's explanation on: number of piston used vs piston area vs amount of brake fluid used. Cheers for a neat mini documentary!
