Boost is addicting! Definitely going to have to let the ole lady drive. Will be hard ti keep your foot out of it.

LS motors premiered in the Corvette in 1997. The crank of some 6.0L engines have a flat flex plate because the rear face of the crank is .400" longer and when I grind out the flex plate for the earlier bolt pattern I upgrade to 10mm bolts. Not a bad idea with a pressurized 6.0L. You can move the coil packs down on the frame next to the inner fender, wiring loom extensions are cheap and available. Want badazz ? Bring those turbo dumps out IN FRONT of the front wheel wells right thru the fender. Looks like a great project, can't wait to see how long that T350 lasts with 700+hp in front of it.

Hey Dan, don't forget that you can seperate the body of the turbo, take out the pins, and reclock the turbo. I had to do this a lot on the job for better turbo placements! Just a tip for ya! Thanks for the video 📸.
@automotivechaos
@automotivechaos Жыл бұрын
When you put the wastegates on, don’t forget the fire ring otherwise you’ll have no boost. I’d also think about bracing those turbos somehow if you can just to take some pressure off the headers. There are also kits to make longer wires to route around the headers unless you can remote mount them on the block somewhere.
@Theunknowndevice
@Theunknowndevice Жыл бұрын
Wipe down your headers with WD-40, before the first heat cycle on the exhaust. It will give them a nice bronze color and keep them from rusting. Repeat it a few times before first oil change

OK Dan, turn your turbos 90° so the air intake faces front and exhaust back. Air output down and out towards the fenderwells if running an inter cooler in towards the air intake on manifold if not. You need a short section of pipe between the header and turbo mountpipe for the blow off valves to mount on.
@t5montecarlo
@t5montecarlo Жыл бұрын
Dan, I wonder if the whole package would fit better if the headers were swapped to the other side, but still keep the upswing on the 90 degree adapter? It would be a shame if the turbos couldn't remain beneath a flat hood. And, yes, it looks like the V-band rings on the 90 degree adapters need to be swapped to the other gender so they seal properly to the headers. Keep up the good/hard/smart work!

Ford guy here. I bought a 2002 Escalade witht the 6.0 back in 2008 because my buddy had it at his used car lot for $9k and it had just over 100k miles on it, which I thought was a killer deal. And who wouldn't want an Escalade? 15 years later, I'm still driving it and its got 250k miles on it and still running strong. Just leaks oil, but I stay on top of it and just add less than a quart between oil changes. Should be a solid motor for you.

Rtv where the front and rear cover gaskets meet the oil pan gasket or she will leak. Coil relocation kit from ICT Billet and mount them down on the frame. The kits are specific to the type of coil. Weld the other piece with the step on the v-band, it'll seal better and get some vibrant clamps for them.

I would save a 6L for n/a work, the 317 heads are enough of a penalty compared to a 706/862 heads on a 5.3(especially with flat tops) that hp is gonna be pretty close, the limiting factors are the transmission, the fuel system, the fuel's detonation resistance, then ring gap and rods. More than 600-700whp is useless on the street. A 4.8 with boost is gonna make more power than you can ever use.
