Not Being Interested

The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to install security cameras, but he kept jacking up the price. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff kept adding to the work and then changed her mind. He also claims she made passes at him and began asking for a refund when he rebuffed her. He says he’s not returning anything.

I disagree with the judge when she said you can't strip a screw unless you're unscrewing it, you absolutely can strip a screw by over tightening it. My husband and family are all licensed contractors.

Any contractor who required me to buy tools (including a ladder) so he could get the job done would be chased away immediately. Bottom line, get a _licensed contractor_ , make up a written contract, instead of dealing with a "handyman" using an oral contract.

Handymen are different from contractors. They’re great when you have a few odd jobs and small fixes. A lot of contractors don’t do that type of work. But, yes, handymen should have all the tools they might need for any job. And, yes indeed, everything should be in writing.

YES. I actually cancelled a painting job on my garage for that exact reason. He was referred to me by a family member. And I had paid him a deposit already. I just chalked it up to lesson learned. I just knew in my heart that the job would not be done correctly.

I never recommend contractors to people anymore. I had one come out and do a perfect job for me one time, so I recommended him to a friend who needed one. He stuffed up her job badly and made me look like an idiot and I felt like the issues he caused my friend was partially my fault! Never again!

I went to Target a few days ago and security had an extremely drunk, 65ish-year-old woman at the front of the store, and she was loudly sobbing, “YOU CAN’T TELL ME WHO TO LOVE!” I saw a customer watching and cracking up, so I asked her if she knew what was going on and she had seen the whole thing. The drunk old lady saw a male security guard ~28 years old on one of the aisles and decided she liked him, so she had pinched him on the bottom and said something dirty to him. He escorted her to the front and made a complaint for sexual battery and they had a female security staff member come talk to her and she had just informed the woman that she was the same age as the security guard’s grandmother, which is what I walked in on. The female staff member then said, “Ma’am, you do not love him. You just saw him on the cereal aisle. I’m not telling you who to love, I’m telling you who you can’t assault in the Target.” 😂😂😂

You can strip a screw by overtightening it / or trying to force it in when it's not seated properly / or the material it is being screwed into is not proper for that type of screw. I don't agree with the judge's ruling. The plaintiff shouldn't get a $ back. They agreed on the work & price. After I lock in a date & buy materials, you cannot reduce the fee quoted. He brother should've decided what she could do on her own before she hired someone to do the work. Handyman, get a contract that says deposits are non-refundable.
