I am starting cello at 51 years old after playing piano for 20 years. It is so difficult! Your video helped to show me normal progress and I will try to be patient and easy on myself...🙂

Hope you’ve found the channel “Adult Cello.” He has lots of good advice about what to expect of yourself and how to help yourself feel good about your progress. My favorite advice he gives is to pick pieces to learn that are beautiful yet simple. It’s hard to feel good about your progress if you’re always playing nursery tunes, ya know?!

I started when I was 48. I live in a small town and a violin/piano teacher taught me cello for two years. Then she told me she had nothing else for me. So I played, watch KZbin videos and slogged along ignorantly. I am now living near Las Vegas for 18 months and I'm taking lessons from a professional cellist. It is GREAT and I'm learning a lot. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE.

Keep going for it! I've been playing Cello for 10 years and just got my grade 8 exam done (with a pass). Although it wasn't the most fun activity and sometime I had the thought of outright quitting, my parents nagging eventually got me to complete it. Also, amazing technique... I can't say that I have the same bow hold

I hope you make some time to play the cello from time to time. You made such great progress. I envy what you were able to accomplish in such a short space of time. I've had my fifth lesson, but I do not know how to read music yet.

Just great for a year! you learned more than I did in a year!, I was so worried and anxious every moment learning cello in 7th grade! Now I'm in 9th grade! You may as find yourself not sounding great but that's the beauty of cello, its fascinating how much your articulation can improve with practice. I know this video was recording was ages but one word of critique is that your arm and hand is WAYY too stiff.
