learning freestyle for only a few weeks and already feeling my shoulders hurt a lot! watched many coaches' videos but couldn't find out why... Glad I watched this one, thanks a lot!

Many months ago, i used to mention that i will watch your videos daily before practice and i didn’t do it. I have gone to many coaches and now I’m back here again to do what i should’ve been doing months ago.

I tried this at the pool today and I was amazed! I felt more relaxed and I swear I was moving faster and using less strokes for each lap. Thanks Coach Mandy! 🤓

thanks for this video. i have been always taught to scrape my thumb on my hip as i exit and it always felt like i was getting stuck. this method is much more natural

This is so helpful Mandy , I've never heard this before . Can I check that you your arm pull finishes in either 5 or 7 o'clock to help the recover and entry

Hi CM.. do you know because of your tips i couldnt wait till the pools open again .. so I went to the river several times to practice and correct my swimming depending on your useful tips .. thank you great mandy my swimming becomes so better because of u 💐💐

Dear Mandy ! The last 2 clips , i have seen , was a big help for me ...in case of a better and more relaxed armstroke !!! The 5 o klock position is a perfect orientation point ( to navigate inside a good comfort zone for the body ..like the info from an other clip of you , that the hips start rotation and arm stroke and not the shoulder ...that saves by me a lot of energy and power ...i can use for a stronger arm stroke ( Pull back !!! ) But my big success did not start with this part , i bought a tempo trainer , in hope , to can mark the point when i have to breath in ...but it didnt work ...but for the armstroke , the tempo trainer is a big help for me , the pieps gives me the orientation point i need for a symetric arm stroke and a perfect timing , i am able to focus my concentration much more to a perfect arm ( stroke ) and the information of Coach Mandy , from the last 2 clips i have seen , gave me an emprovement of arround 80 or more % in this case ! I hope soon ( inside the next 6 month ) to be able to manage my breathing also successful ! Thank you very much for your good job , Coach Mandy !!! I would be happy if your swim demonstration would be a bit longer !

Yes, the tempo trainer is a very useful addition to help you stay consistent and on rhythm. 🙌 haha yes, this is just a quick advice clip but stay tuned as I’ll have more on this subject in greater detail later! This is also what Stuart Mcdougall told me to make sure the water is dripping from my right hand. I see mostly this happen on my left and not right, so that means my right needs a lot of work.

It's really an excellent advice from you. I am making a library of all your tutorial videos, since here in Mumbai, we still continue to stay in lockdown. Don't know when the pools are going to open again 😣

Avijit Banerjee yes, same here. Pools are still shut down or are very limited depending on the area. You can still practice and train from home while you wait. Hang in there Avijit. We will get through this together 🙌🏽🙏🏽🏊🏼‍♂️

Hi Mandy, I'm finding when I enter my left arm in the water and take a breadth on my right-side. I have to rush my left arm catch-pull and snap my head back into the water superfast to prevent my head sinking when taking in air. Seems to be fine when breathing on my left-side. I'm sure its an imbalance somewhere, but would appreciate your feedback and if you already have some videos which might help me improve this problem. Great demonstration of relaxedvstroke. Thanks again

Yes, that is a great question. There are different reasons why this occurs but the first two that come to mind immediately are 1. You may be over rotating on right side &/or 2. Breathing too late which causes over rotation as well. I have a video on this specific point here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZjQq6Kun6Zla5Y Notice why breathing feels better on your left side. I have this same problem but for opposite sides. Right side breathing is clear of water and on my left side the first two breathes are good but on the third breathe my mouth gets water in it which I can filter out but on my fourth breathe it's just all water land I have to stop. I have completed laps breathing on my left side but if I dont get a mouthful of water that causes me to stop then I just keep getting water in my mouth on every breathe, having to filter it out and it's just less relaxing as opposed to breathing water free on the right. I havent identied the problem that causes the inconsistency breathing on my left yet. If you identified your problem and found the correct solution let me know m8 thx.

excellent video obout a too often neglected topic. but if arm movement gives 70% of propulsion that should explain how important it is.

Slight problem with the first exercise. Although everything mentioned is correct. The dynamics and limitations of movement of the body standing are very different to when laying flat in the water. Also, I would think it would be better to pull close to the hip. More streamline and more strength. Which is what you can see on the swimming section of this video. Good video though.
