Think 3 to 5 years down the road of things you may want. Running extra pvc underground and wire now is easy, you'll thank yourself in the long run.

Infloor heat is the way to go. Idk any website that designs a system for you but since you are having separate rooms. I would zone it. For example. Shop could be set at 55 offices set at 68

As many vehicles that you maintain you should go with a waste oil boiler. You can always add regular number 2 when you don't have enough used oil

Rehau is a manufacturer in Alabama that I use to work for. They manufacture all types of PEX pipe even for radiant floor heat. They also manufacture all the manifolds, couplings, and installation tools that you would need. They are a German based company but you can buy from the manufacture here in the states. Wouldn’t recommend it if I didn’t trust it.

Have you considered geothermal Jack? Radiant floor is badass BTW.. Especially if you are doing work on the floor. Get it zoned for your application IMO.

I built a 40x45 pole barn about 3 years ago now, and heat with an outdoor wood boiler. When researching for radiant solutions I went with a company called radiantec in Vermont. After you provide the dimensions they will create a floor layout with how the pex should be ran for maximum heat efficiency. Once that is complete they will provide the quote for everything (pex, pumps, manifold, thermostat, etc). Depending on size you might need multiple zones. They will cover all that with you. I also purchased the insulation/vapor barrier from them. It is a bit more expensive, but saves a ton of time with installing the pex because it holds the pex in place for concrete. No need to secure or fasten the pex due to the design. Lastly their support throughout the process was very helpful when running into issues or any questions. I am very happy with the results.

We just finished putting the mesh over my brother in laws radiant flooring he put in his building.. put some added steel around the drains and around the manifold for the tubes as well. Should be pouring the slab over it in the next week or so. Pretty easy to do yourself!

Just wanna say thanks for putting in the time and work to go through all the small steps and details of building your dream shop. I saw this video the day you uploaded it and I’m coming back to watch the process again as I’m chasing my dream of owning my Grading and Land Management business and I had a job come up to build a pad for shop and even after going through the videos contractors have uploaded...I haven’t found a video yet that gives me the info and shows me exactly what I need to do and I just wanted to say thanks for all the updates and step by step progress on your shop as it has given me the info I’ve been looking for!

From my garage building experience. Radiant is nice but I’d also consider a large ductless unit with two zones for the heat pump and ac features on top of it. Two zones because it helps spread it across the shop easier. I’m also hoping you factored in floor drains. I’d also do a 10-12” reinforced door across the entire garage so you can mount lifts anywhere you please without concern. All ideas I wish I thought of ahead of time and will do next time.

I've built a lot of shops and then half way thru people see what they should of done and wanna change things but as a person who's done it on a regular basis always try and give the customer pointers but I've also worked for a guy who wouldn't recommend anything to the customer even tho there would be a better way for about the same price

Grab an outdoor burner for your heated floor. Once the concrete gets up to temperature, it's very efficient. U have plenty of wood around. Also grab a couple of heaters to throw up top... Propane or electric.
@jameswilson8982
@jameswilson8982 3 жыл бұрын
You can also run your ceiling heaters through the burner with heat exchangers as well, after everything is up to temperature it will work great.

Hey bro, as a contractor and seasoned Havc installer i will lead with this. What is your cooling plan? Also what are the walls/garage doors an attic being insulated by? I am a huge fan of radiant heat but cost /buck depending on cooling intentions, theres a great chance that u can get the best of both worlds. I’m not that far, hit me up if ya wanna chat further. Otherwise keep up the beast mode work👍🏽
