the (tragic) irony (or perhaps poetic justice) is that people got so stuck up about austin and started telling the world that it was cool so much that droves and droves and droves and droves of people started moving there and then messed it up (see the traffic situation, etc.) . . . then after all the hype that people created about austin, and people started to move in, many had the audacity to tell people to not move to austin and they got mad because people from Cali and other hipster areas moved in. . . Maybe they should have been more humble, instead of creating the current situation by being so arrogant about austin (a common austin based ethos is that nothing is cool in texas but it, when that's is a huge lie, see other texas cities). also, most of the charming places in and around austin are kind of over done at this point, for instance, the oasis used to be alot smaller and cozier, now it's just another behemoth quasi-touristy spot. . . and the watering holes are polluted and at times closed off to swimmers because of higher than normal bacteria levels (see dogs dying after swimming in town lake) but at least austin has a bunch of. . . . of food trucks, yes there are many food trucks to indulge in and other food establishments that have legions of followers that would rather wait in herd like lines to eat a stranger's food because they bought into the hype, instead of preparing their own meals with their own hands. And 6th street is mainly a den of alcoholic anchored stupidity and explosive violence so much that it had to be cordoned off by law enforcement. oh and all this new love for austin's eastside is just a symptom of the effects of gentrification. . . the eastside was the historical jim crow established section designated for afro americans and chicanos. . . now it's the cool spot for developers and upwardly mobile types that are looking forward to moving the poor out faster than they've been doing for the last 10 years.

Austin and the surrounding area has a lot to offer. Most of the time you can't get to those places without sloging thru very heavy traffic, paying high prices for parking, or waiting in long lines. Please stop moving here. This place was awesome 20 yrs ago.

So many great spots. Unfortunately we were short on time and had to go and come. We hit up Capitol St???... Great shops. Ate at Gueros, great food. Definitely want to go back and really enjoy Austin. I was born and raised in San Antonio with quite a few visits to Austin and i can say that Austin is more for younger party going, forever free kind, and San Antonio is more for those who still like to party sometimes but want to settle down and spread roots and get old. ObiJuan Kenobi Yes culture shock for sure! The transition is really really hard, I miss Los Angeles, I still see it as home- and in a lot of aspects I wish I could go back. But nothing was doable in that city, and housing costs are outrageous! Compared to California, in my opinion Austin traffic doesn’t even exist!

Austin is FULL. Please visit via VR only. It's not cool anymore, and if you do visit, you are required to take (2) TWO homeless people back with you. It's a new rule. (OK, that was not my best comment on YT, but when I hear daily honking in anger, crazy gentrification, the homeless are camping in the medians, total gridlock, and stress everywhere- it frustrates me and I want to be honest with people. )

Matts is a whole reason to come here. - didn’t mention the record stores here like Antone’s and Waterloo. - didn’t mention la Fonda San Miguel’s. Add those, you’re set! Don’t mean to be rude. If I come as as rude, I am not trying too. Austin is an amazing place. We have had movies filmed here. One of them would be dazed and confused. Stars a young Matthew McConaughey. Very good movie. I’ve lived in Addis Ethiopia, Nairobi Kenya, Manhattan & Brooklyn NY, DC-DMV, all places have their own good & bad part but Austin fulfills most best things in this imperfect world. In Austin people are nice & welcoming, it’s diverse with music , good food ...quality of life and safety. I see many people complaining about traffic, 😂 you know what city I’ve never seen any traffic? Erie, Pa. I’ve stayed there for half year. Those of you complaining please move there 🤩 However the city of Austin could do better to cut the traffic by half as the traffic is not Austin’s traffic but a passing through traffic. The city could construct beltways like DC and block those ugly 18 wheeler 🚛 trucks. 🎊🎈🥰😍😘💚💛❤️ Austin happy 2020!

Welcome to Texas Michael! Did you go twirl around under the big Christmas tree made out of Lights at Zilker Park? So glad to see that you did get back down to San Antonio and got to sightsee.
