It's all true. I personally have bought 10 baofeng radios each weekly paycheck since I became aware of this channel. I have about 2000 of them now connected together with a bunch of raspberry pi so that they all transmit on different channels and play recordings of other hams over the air. My plan is to cause the total collapse of civilization through polluting the airwaves. I could be persuaded to cease if the hams of the world would deliver pepperoni, mushroom, black olive pizzas to my home at least three times per week.

Hey man I love your videos! I started watching your videos before I earned my HAM license. I have continued to get both my General (2nd license), and my third license (Extra). I like the information you provide and I don't think you stop anyone that may want to get a HAM license from getting one. Keep the videos coming and f those SAD HAM's who take issue with your videos. The best thing to come out of me getting a gmrs, technician & general license has been the Not a Rubicon channel. Second was the passing of the tests. I was super excited to get on the radio, repeaters, etc & hear traffic & all that cool stuff. Turns out nobody is on the radio & most of the people I do make contact with are so uncomfortable talking on the radio that the conversation lasts like 30 seconds😂. I am super grateful that I didn’t spend much on my radio stuff…as it would’ve been a waste…

This channel helped me get interested in radio (again - CBer back in the day). GMRS was my jumping off point then I decided to get my ham license so I can use more than 2 watts, an external antenna and repeaters - Canadian GMRS rules suck. And thanks @NotaRubicon for telling me to always make sure you turn on the roger beep, local Hams were impressed ;-)

My first experience with ham radio was meeting a sad ham on the air who did not make me feel welcome as a new user. There are some sad people in that hobby. However, the majority are good people. Love the videos!

I like this channel because it has given a good recommendation for a radio I bought. I really wish he and other channel owners would contact Boefeng and other China companies to ask them to build a Phase 2 digital scanner that does DMR and 700/800/900 phase 2 digital simulcast scanner NXDN and Open Sky would be great, but just a phase 2 digital simulcast scanner for under 100 dollars would be incredible. Boefeng really gave the average Joe the ability to get a tri band ham for 30 dollars. Before that you needed 200 dollars for a single band radio

I believe the large fines by the FCC are the agency's attempt to scare newcomers away from the hobby out of fear that if they violate any rule, they will be heavily fined for it. The agency wants fewer citizens involved in the hobby so it will peter out as the older hobbyists age out and pass away. We should be actively recruiting more young people into the hobby as a response.

To be totally honest, the only reason a won't get a HAM license on principle are the many freaks what you politely call "sad hams" (I would use more direct language). The amazing thing is that people think that FCC cares about little offenses. While FCC only cares about enforcing non-overlap in business exploitation of bands. It's why FCC regularly go after repeaters networks bc they are perceived as competitors of mobile phones. But they wouldn't waste their time chasing little offenders unless the case will give them big bucks.
