I feel the urge to add to the elegant poem that is this video, in the poshest English I can muster, to first say that "bordé" means "edged with" rather than "full" so I've always envisionned someone just sitting on a bowl full of noodles (it doesn't help in the slighest about where the saying came from but at least you shall be completely accurate with the image it depicts ...) The "y'a pas à tortiller du cul" sentence can be completed (for an overall better understanding of the already very clear point made) with "pour chier droit". Y'a pas à tortiller du cul pour chier droit : Don't move your ass so much if you want to shit straight. That is to say, "Go straight to the point". And finally, I wanted to add one of my personal favorites to the list, and which has *many* declinations : "Enculer les mouches", to sodomize flies (btw English needs a much better translation for "enculer"). It basically means that you are either being too picky about something, or that you have nothing important to do. This way, you can be an " Enculeur de mouches", a fly sodomizer ; or declare a situation to be "de l'enculage de mouches". Vive la France's swears ! 🌷

La version plus soft est « le sourire de la fermière ». On est très imagé dans nos expressions et je dois dire que pour quelqu’un qui apprend la langue ça doit pas être évident tous les jours lol. It's very specific to soldiers from World War 1 who came back with many deformations and disabilitis. You never use it now for any soldier or resistants from WW2 or fighters later like in Indochine or Algeria independance war. Another name for WW1 fighters are also "les poilus". That means "the hairy men", bc in the war, they dont have time to cut hair or beard. This one has way more positiv association and its totally okay to use it.

For example, "Avoir le cul bordé de nouilles" (Having ass surrounded with noodles) is easy to understand; you need to have the image in your head. Here the noodles (cooked) are seen as something warm, soft, and supple under the butt that protects your butt if you fall and your butt hits the ground first. So, that means being under protection, avoiding any shocks, and by extension, being lucky. But usually, this expression should only be used when someone narrowly avoids a huge problem. Today, it's used a little wrongly and through and even for someone who wins a lottery. Yet, in this particular case, it shouldn't be the correct expression. Regarding the expression "sticking your fingers out of the ass" (if you have your fingers in your buttocks, your hands are busy, and therefore, you can't do anything else), this expression can be used in several cases. For example, someone explains that's sad because a person you know is unemployed and not earning money, but for example, you, you know that this person doesn't make any effort to look for work, so you can employ that expression and say: *"Bon d'accord, mais faudrait peut-être qu'il se sorte un peu les doigts du cul s'il veut trouver un job."* (Okay, okay, but maybe he should get his fingers out of his ass a bit if he wants to find a job.) Moreover, It's in this sense that this expression is most often used. But also, from time to time, as you explained, to express the idea that we'll have to arm ourselves with courage, redouble our efforts cause the task to be undertaken will require a lot of work. « Etre fini à la pisse! », I am so surprised you know this expression. In all my life I’ve heard it once only, from a great-uncle. I thought it was his own expression or very local. This expression came to my mind several times, but I have never used it. Because to me it’s the worse insult ever and saying this would almost surely lead to a fight. My great-uncle has an other expression «dans la même veine » which is « je lui pisse à la raie », which means I don’t care what he/she thinks.
