I KNOW!!! I really do like this one...I haven't tried any other diode lasers first hand but I'm keeping this one for sure. I like the product so I am looking into a Creality 3D Printer now because I need a second one for rapid work. What I can say is I went through years trying to find a Co2 laser and looked at various small ones. No way would I recommend that route. This thing is nearly zero maintenance and as long as you can live with what it can cut (I can) I think it is the best route...not to mention it's waaaaaaay less expensive. Good luck!!!

Perfect timing, this with chimera OS would make a sweet living room PC. Excellent design as usual! Edit: Open frame lasers are a hazard. I like Creality 3D printers but laser cutters/engravers should be enclosed, it's accident waiting to happen. Users should always have inside an enclosure like your CO2 laser's, and the glass pane should block the wavelength of the diode laser. It's not worth losing your sight, or someone else's after an accidental exposure.

It's better to be safe than sorry. With glasses it should be pretty safe as the focus of the beam would be so off it couldn't cut anything after a an inch or so and with laser glasses it should be pretty safe. Im concerned about fumes...gotta be very careful what you cut especially if its not outside. Some plastics make chlorine gas when cut!!! Luckily this acrylic is designed for this kinda thing and is safe. THANK YOU for your comment.

@@NotFromConcentrate Yeah it was more a warning for the viewers than a criticism for you - plus this channel sincerely deserves all the business opportunities as you can get; I have a lot of admiration for you for releasing your designs (not just stls, step files too) :) And yeah, PVC on laser cutters is a big no no - fortunately laser cutting vinyl records isn't a tiktok trend yet, lol. Open frame lasers can be safe, it's just that because of the low price point and how they're marketed, users may not necessarily understand the risk of using one - especially when they're promoted as a desktop tool akin to a 3D printer or something. Thanks again! Also, try incorporating Wood PLA in one of the designs, it stains nicely too just needs a few coats of varnish at the end ;)

This was amazing and makes me wish for a software to build DIY cases, something that can detect all the parts that you need, dimensions and also play with air flow and temps. I guess it's not really a practical idea, it would be very niche, and if you have the expertise, you already have all or mostly all the software required, but it would definitely be a cool thing to play with.

Designing a pc case for 3d printing is no small task. I have tried it before. I like your approach though because it really minimizes printing and gives great part orientation. @NotFromConcentrate
@NotFromConcentrate Жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the comment. I dunno if you have watched any of my other build videos but I am a big fan of brass heatserts. Little 5mm m3 extruded heatserts are cheap but it's not nearly as cheap when you start going to the asymmetrical m4 + stuff, and it certainly isn't as easy as using a plastic screw. The right tool for the job is what I advocate and I encourage you to take a look at the file and see that screws work here. The good news is if you did want to use brass heatserts I took it into consideration and you can press in the 5mm ones if you really wanted to go that route. But my last design had six heatserts per beam and that is much more costly and time consuming than two screws so I stand by my statement :)

Many people have pointed this out in the comments. If I could go back and clarify I would have used different language, but I hope you can give me a line of credit in that it's harder to make these videos that it might look, and try to understand the concept I was trying to get across. At any rate, I have many videos where I use threaded nutserts. The cheapo brass m3 ones are very inexpensive, but the very nice ones are actually pricey. It would have been about 9 dollars to use the coned M4 ones I had originally designed the case for, and they would NOT have been as strong. The long threaded screws which only need to be installed once add a metal core to the parts and it really works out well. I am grateful for you taking the time to comment.

@@NotFromConcentrate I do have to admin thats one of the nicest cases. Like you said - using technics how to make not look like 3d printed. I would say that after having a laser, acryloc sheets, nice wood etc. then the inserts are quite free after all that. Also what I have thought is to have acutally threaded rod so it would reinforcve the whole chassis and as it can be tensioned quite strongly it will put tension on the frame and makes it even stronger. Im in search of itx , but iu need full size gpu in there.

Will two NF-A9 fans fit on the front? Wasn't sure if you were using some extra slim 90 mms on the front rather than standard width 25mm ones.

Very cool build, what's the dimensions of the case? I'm doing a similar project atm also with a mix of 3d print parts, and cnc cut acrylic panels (matte black! ;)

Hey check out some of my other videos. I have one called "Project Density" which would be a design that uses this same language but would work for a 4080 with some minor adjustments. Peace and thanks for looking!

Will it etch copper or aluminum? (To make heat sinks?)

not even my giant laser that costs as much as a car will do that. You'll need an industrial fiber laser. You can mark on stainless because it changes color with heat--I didnt try this but you can see some videos of it.

@@NotFromConcentrate I just use the redneck version. Copper filament (thin copper tape) as the anode. The working part as the cathode. Saltwater as the the gap short and a car battery for power. Though I'm sure one could just use a power supply.
