Today is day 5 for me! Can breathe sooo much better. The thought of a cigarette disgusts me. I have ZERO cravings. Praise Yeshua. I prayed so hard for him to help me break this chain. And that’s n a blink of an eye I just didn’t want them. 7 year smoker. A pack a day. Sometimes more. I am amazed by how much better I feel already. Tom is nearly here. Here is to day 6! And to anyone else trying, the very best of luck to you!!!

5 years smoke-free in September 2024. Stopped cold turkey after three previous failed attempts. This was from 1 pack a day for nearly 10 years. I'm feeling better than ever. The financial benefits are great. Enjoying quality time with friends and family when getting together. All the best to anyone trying to quit. Don't give up if you fail keep quitting as many times as you can and hold off on smoking as much as you can. Every time you try to reduce or stop smoking, it is still more beneficial for you than not trying to quit at all.

I quit smoking cold turkey, Aug of 2020. I had been smoking everyday for about 7 years. That has to be the best decision I have ever made in my life. I get compliments from virtually every single person I know about how good my skin looks. I have never been so proud of myself, I occasionally drink and go out with friends that smoke and they're sometimes astonished about how I just quit.

I quit in lockdown for 10 weeks. Went back to work and started again. I recently stopped again as I type this I am 15 Days free of cigarettes after 15 Years while working full time! This is really the best I've done. I messed up a little on day 7 after a few drinks I had a few but the next day there was no urge to go get a pack and start again! I currently have no urge to smoke again. If you're reading this, it gets easier. Keep going. This is from someone who REALLY enjoys cigarettes! But I think itll be worth us giving this drug addiction up. That's exactly what it is a drug addiction. And it won't be good in the long run. I started at 15 I'm currently 30. They say if youre younger than 40 your body can make a full recovery by the time you're old. So keep going.

Day 1 of quitting (again after many failed attempts over the years). I'm 23 and started smoking heavily at 17. I smoke a pack a day, about 9,000 cigarettes a year, and an approximate 54,000 since age 17. I want to taste and smell my food properly again, breathe better again, have my heart beat normal again, and not jones for a time consuming, expensive, and chemical-filled, carcinogenic roll of paper that will likely kill me of I don't quit. Wish me luck in finally quitting. I wish you all the same luck for the many others also trying to quit.

Back in the late 50's, the minister of the church I attended at the time, once showed a movie at a special evening meeting (in color) of a guy who had cancer in one lung and was having it removed. After the lung was taken out, it was then opened up and instead of being healthy red inside, it was all black and cracked like a dry lakebed. He often later quipped, "A lot of people quit smoking that night." I am one of those who never had to quit because I never started, am now nearing 82 and still ride a motorcycle. I sincerely do wish you 'Good Luck". BHE

Me, too, up to a month's time now. Could not have done it without the nic-gum. I just wish we had some groups or something when you feel weak. Even though the physical is out-of-the-way, the brain still wants to hold one, inhale one, be one with a smoke. I need some encouragement. It takes 66 days to break a habit and after the withdrawal, it's all about the habit, which is very serious.

I was smoking about a pack and a half a day. As soon as I found out I had a lung tumor, I cut down to 10 cigarettes a day for three days. I then went to one cigarette every two hours. I chose a quit date of April 18 at midnight. I smoked my last cigarette at 12:50 am on April 18th. I am using the NRT or patch. I used the 21 mg for 8 weeks and my doctor has recommended that I stay at that dose for a full three months. I was also given Wellbutrin as this has been proven to help. I do not care for the nicotine gum, however I do use the lozenges on occasion. All in all it has not been bad.a few craving, but definitely getting easier. Was 2 months on the 18th and trust me I never thought I would be successful. I will never smoke again, and only hope it is not to late. You can do this, good luck!

I had to replace my entire wardrobe what included my favorite clothes. I had to give up running, riding a bike, water skiing, scuba diving, riding roller coasters. I have to put up with insinuations and snide remarks about diet and exercise. I wish I had taken my chances on cancer and kept right on smoking

@@speshwemmick6225 what helped with me is keeping in mind that in reality it’s not the nicotine we are addicted to. It’s the dopamine rush we get. Tried zyban that made me throw up, again waste of my money. Am on the patches and play mind games with my craving thoughts. 21 days smoke free today and very determined that I am finally a non smoker. Smoked @50 a day for 39 years, in my 60’s now and if I can quit for 21 days you can all make that milestone, the difference to quitting is the thoughts in your head not the smokes in your pocket.

Maybe it's too soon to comment but I had been smoking for about 8 years and my cigarette count gradually increased to 15 cigarettes a day. Went to a psychiatrist 5 days ago to quit smoking. He prescribed a medicine which helps to subdue craving, and has mild antidepressant properties. Also recommend nicotine gums 6-8 a day. Honestly it helps. The craving is not there and all I have to battle is the behavioral habit. I used to smoke when bored, when not bored, when stressed or even when chilling. I don't know how to kill that 5*15 mins pocket of time. For now I'm not paying too much attention to those moments and actively picking little 5 mins challenge in lieu of that urge to light one. I have a family history of chain smokers passing away from cancer. I hope I have enough time to correct my stupidity now. We can do it! Lezzz gooo!!!

@@kellysmyth2337 Unfortunately, that is very true as there is NO tapering off. My first wife was a heavy smoker when I first met her and when we married a year later when she was 17, was still smoking. When she turned 40, she attended a 'Cease Smoking" class ran by the local Seventh Day Adventists and, to her credit, did manage to quit, stayed smoke free and is about to turn 80. Also unfortunately, quitting "cold turkey" introduced mental instability and she has been confined shortly after she turned 54. My 2nd wife is 84, actively runs a landscaping business, and while I retired at 70, still ride a motorcycle at 81. We both are of those few who never faced having to quit because we never started. Oh, I thought I was smoking....would take the smoke into my mouth, then blow it back out. One day a friend told me, "You're NOT smoking....you have to breathe it into your lungs, like this." Tried it once, liked to hacked my guts up.....nuff for me! BHE

What got me wasn't the craving. It's the damn pain in chest. Moment I stopped smoking, the chest pain kicked off. It was extremely painful but had to ride through it. It was awful. Extreme chest pain. Went to doctor, xrays, said no heart attack, just lungs healing, inflammation and nicotine, it's "a fight between you and the nicotine, fight it." I did. But man, was it painful for a while. I have now more energy, far more focus, and far happier. Had to clean my clothes over and over agaub and home due to smell from cigs. You made two months? That's really great strength. Stay on track, see yourself as a nonsmoker and live it with pride. We need meetings like AA meetings to keep us off, but it's treated like a personal diet or something personal, it's a drug, it's an addiction, it's a hard core habit, but there is a reason why we don't have groups, big business makes a ton off of us whether we succeed or quit.

Same happened to me ! But 3 months and im back smoking free ! I found that by not thinking about smoking and watching these kind of videos ! Your chances increase ! And also you need to stay busy Af that's the secret ! And one final tip ! In your first month avoid your smoking friends and any enivrement where there's smokers !

Wow I am in Melbourne too and evidence you found me. A smoker that wants to quit. How did Garette go ? I really want to give up but the craving is really hard. I'm speaking to quitline but when I cut down even I don't want to talk to them because I'm angry and moody. I get sleepy and really dizzy and out of it. Anyway great to see another Melbournian
