Or maybe Warner bris should’ve matched nbc/amazon offers 🤷🏿♂️
@juliocastaneda59404 ай бұрын
Thing about it is, is that Warner Bros/Discover knew that the NBA was going to renegotiate the TV deals coming into this year and didn't want to offer the money necessary to keep TNT in the NBA market. Their network makes that kind of money because of Inside the NBA being apart of that network. And basically saying we will no longer justify paying 2.6 billion dollars a year to be the NBA "B" lineup anymore because it's too expensive for the new team that took TNT. What this does now is basically bury TNT after the end of the 2025 season when TNT is no longer associated with the NBA. Since cable networks as a whole, has been dying as well. It is unfortunate because it is a cutthroat business and sometimes institutional shows like Inside the NBA gets kicked in because of it. I however have a feeling, these guys all 3 or even Ernie himself will team up to do a podcast to just keep the continuity of those 4 brothers together because especially Ernie, but Kenny, Shaq and Charles has been an institution of the NBA for nearly 25 years now. Obviously Ernie started it all, but over the years get Kenny and Charles then Shaq, all 4 of those guys have made what Inside the NBA an institution to the sport. It's just sad to see that institution go when it makes its final live broadcast at the end of next year's conference finals last game.

Me too!!! Inside the NBA stoked a love for basketball while I still lived in SA, a place where other than that, you would never see basketball on TV. From there it grew and grew and now its one of my favourite sports to watch. The reason the NBA got a bigger media deal in the US, despite losing viewership in the States, is for 2 reasons. 1 - Because its the most viewed sport of the the US sports globally, but 2 - It has a massive social media footprint. I imagine a lot of that is due to Ernie, Kenny Shaq and Chuck. The NBA is about to break apart their golden goose, I dont think they fully realise that yet.

It's almost easy to say that Ernie is getting there to his retirement as he's nearing 70, and Chuck and Kenny aren't getting younger either as they are on the both sides of 60 years old. But they have the chemistry that made Inside the NBA a culture, a show that is watched by so many even the non-fans, and the camaraderie that those four have is unbreakable. Players (both active and retired) want to talk pre and post-game to them, and enjoy poking fun, with recent example of Ant with Chuck and Brunson with Kenny. It's also a show that have pop culture icons and other sport athletes join in for a fun talk. Maybe it sounds like a pipe dream, but maybe one of those companies should find a way to work and collaborate with TNT next year to have a successor to Ernie Johnson and "audition" who can be the traffic cop to what Kenny, Shaq, and Chuck do on a nightly basis, so Inside the NBA could seamlessly be moved to another company/network, as handful of shows have changed networks in the run, when the new deal kicks in. Don't cut their careers, let them retire on their own with age, and keep the show going forever, and make it one of the long running TV shows ever. Adam Silver should be lucky that Inside the NBA has kept NBA viewership going for all these years.

Losing Inside of NBA for any reason beyond their retirement is just mental. If they were to retire ok, but losing the show because of anything but it, is a hard pill to swallow. I can imagine how stressful it has been for the guys and mostly for everyone else behind the show.

Ernie ain’t going, bring back C-Webb and have Kenny step up

I agree Stephen I have loved watching these guys on tnt for years and hopefully they all can still talk about the game of basketball on tv

Kenny could easily by replaced but i agree with the other 3
@memonomoto74194 ай бұрын
No, he cant. Half of their jobs involve making fun of Kenny. He also instigates Chuck a lot of times that make Chuck go off. He is an important part of the show

SAS is right. That show and its cast has chemistry. It's sports version of Seinfeld. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Indulge me here: Take a look at Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond, and May. The show was fun, just as it is fun to watch old friends talking because that's what they still are: old friends. You don't buy that in a store; you build it up over the years. That's what Inside The NBA has with the four.

As someone who has watched top gear for many years and same with inside it really is the same situation. Really hope they can make it work on a new network like the top gear guys with Amazon

ESPN never has grasped the chemistry TNT has created in the past 2 decades.
