Looks like you can't let guests comment on your page anymore. From the support page: "They'll be able to view the page, even if they don't have a Notion account. However, they won't be able to make any edits, leave comments, or sort/filter a database."

This is really helpful -I hadn't explored the email option before. A question, how do sub or hidden pages work with this, as example buttons which link to a feedback page, work for sharing? It seems like they need to be shared individually as well as the page itself?

Sub pages always take on the privacy settings of the parent page UNLESS you override them by going in and changing them. With pages outwith the portal itself, you would need to grant the client access to that page for them to be able to access it OR move that page into the client portal database. I do the later with feedback forms. I move it in when I’m ready and it will automatically take on the share settings of the parent page (client portal page). Does this make sense and answer your question?

Since releasing this have you found any way for them to be able to get notified when using the share to web feature? I am trying to get my clients off from email altogether and move our correspondence to notion entirely. Thanks for making awesome videos.

I don’t think this is possible via Notion alone. The reason is that notifications are a feature for those using Notion. Sharing to web means the client isn’t using the platform itself therefore can’t receive a notification. However, the new automation (paid feature) does allow you to send updates to slack so technically if you have a slack account to communicate with clients then you can send updates that way. It may also be possible with third party integrations such as Zapier, Pipedrive or Make. Sorry I missed this when you first posted this. I thought it was worth replying now just in case you’re still wondering or for anyone else who is unsure. I hope this helps! ~ C

What about if they do have a notion account and I invite them to the space? Can they get email notifications then?

@@videoforentrepreneurs Yes! This is what I recommend for everyone now. I’m thinking of remaking a lot of these videos. I’ve learned a lot from comments like this and i think it would be helpful for clarity. Sharing this because if you have any other questions or areas you would like me to cover in these videos, let me know and I’ll be sure to incorporate them in. :)

@@chloeforbesk Awesome! I do the same thing on my channel. Ask for suggestions. We are using notion as a client portal for our video editing services and we need to get a notification to our client when it’s time for video reviews.

Great video!!! But just to clarify, if I want the person I am sharing the page with to upload files, does it need to be “can edit”? Or will “can comment” be enough
@chloeforbesk

Thank you so much :) You can do comment if the work you do is more showing your work and getting feedback. If you need the client to add content, send messages or the project is more collaborative, 'can edit' might be easier. The great thing it's easy to change so you can always make a test account to see which option you'd prefer your client to have.

what if you publish a webpage and they have an account would they get notifications? I imagine this would be the best option as its the most flexible - you can send the link explaining the pros and cons of having an account, but either way the client now has access to the page. they may use it for a bit without an account, but later on decide to create one.
