Not sure how this film could be described as a romcom . The book starts with Lily at the funeral of her father who was extremely abusive to her mother. It ends with us the title is based on Lily being pregnant leaving her short marriage to her abusive husband, so that their child will never see the abuse she herself had seen. Lily will allow her ex to see the child and he has a good relationship with the child. Apparently it’s partly based on the Author’s own Mother story. The author can remember bad things that happened when she was three, but had a relationship with her Father with some good memories. Her father also had problems with alcohol at one time. Strange alcohol was promoted for the film. Alcohol plays a major part in D/V

It was so unprofessional how Blake trashed Baldoni. I can imagine when someone is extremely passionate about a project (he discovered and read the book first, contacted the author, bought the rights...hello!) it can come across intense and overbearing but it doesn't warrant turning the whole cast against him and pretending to be a victim in the process. I can't stand when a personal misunderstanding or conflict becomes an effort to gang up on one person, so childish and pathetic... That doesn't even include Ryan meddling in the project and the power imbalance between Baldoni and Blake+Ryan. Then you have her completely ridiculous comments (I honestly thought this was a rom-com until I learned otherwise) because Blake believes she's as funny and sarcastic like her husband but in order to pull off Ryan's style of humor you need to be incredibly self-deprecating in a very obvious way so that it doesn't come across as cutting or entitled. She doesn't have that in her or the skill to pull it off hence her one-liners on Instagram is as good as it gets but Instagram one-liners don't resonate in real life. Then there is the promotion of her alcohol brand (the trend of celebrities who don't drink, starting and pushing their alcohol brands on fans is insane to me) not to mention her hair care brand all at the same time as the promotion of the film? Total MESS. Meanwhile, nowhere in the promotion do the actors talk about the actual plot of the movie and serious message/themes portrayed! I'm not impressed by this cast who joined in the pile-on of Justin and defended Blake unequivocally. Totally unprofessional and I would never want to hire a bunch of hivemind children like them

The cast is just kissing her ass bc of who her kidney bean shaped head husband is. Both of them come of very smug and narcissistic. She thinks bc she is Taylor Swifts ass licker that she has the power to make or break someone. The cast are spineless liars who I’m sure can’t stand her, but are scared that they’ll be blackballed if they speak up or don’t take her side. The author of the book who initially was praising Justin Baldoni after he contacted her and they formed a relationship now she is on the same Blake ass kissing train as the other actors. Neither she nor her husband impress me, and I have no desire to see either of their movies. And is Hugh Jackman now having to kiss their asses because he’s scared of the wrath of Taylor Swift?

I haven't been a Reynolds fan for a while now- he comes across as a guy who laughs at his own jokes, and nobody else gets the punchline. The older he's gotten, the less funny but more obnoxious and almost controlling he seems. Never bothered with Blake- she seemed nice enough, and is Taylor Swift's bestie is all I knew. But the debacle of her new film, and ostracized of the director and Co producer and co star, and the flippant way that Blake had been behaving- in interviews, advertising etc, AND the emergence of interviews, showing her arrogance and mean side...it's leaving a sour taste in many people's mouth. Justin, has been a true gentleman, not criticized anyone even through this unraveling and message behind the film, is obviously upset, as he took the project on because of the dv part, and remains consistent about the film, but after this has said he won't be returning to direct the sequel. They took his passion project, tried to make it something fun, and then presented it as if he was the problematic one. He gets more of my respect. @0.50, oh there we go, why am I not surprised that he doesn't like a more successful partner, and wants to have a say, in Blake's project. I was not surprised to hear that Ryan rewrote a key scene. During the writers strike so, he crossed the picket line. The Karma, is coming back to haunt them. She's been rude, put more of a flippant angle, on the story, and then tried to make Justin sound problematic, with the whole "fat shaming", claims. With the story of how they met and got together...it is NOT looking good for Blake and Ryan. But I do feel that Ryan has a lot more of a toxic personality. I now wonder if the film is closer to home than previously thought. I think it's also a testament to Justin, that when shown to focus groups, his take was more liked and therefore was the cut released. So again, he took the dv issue to heart, thus wanted a female perspective, and stays true in interviews about the message, without saying anything negative about Blake. That's a rare, gentleman. Not surprised Ryan wanted to get involved. I hope that people realise, that the screenplay had been completed in time, but with Ryan's rewrite during the strike, it shows that he doesn't care about the writers at all.

I went to school with her older sister Lori Lynn (she just goes by Lori now), and my younger sister went to school with Lori’s younger brother, Jason. He would be Blake’s older brother. Lori Lynn and I were both born in ‘66, and Jason is 2 years younger. We grew up here in a small town in Georgia, not as small as it was back then… Lori and Jason were VERY kind people, and they didn’t act narcissistic in any way. They were just regular kids. Jason was in the original ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ he plays the brother. I’m not sure of the second one? I’m not a fan of Chevy Chase, so I didn’t watch him. Because Lori and Jason were both so nice I just assumed Blake was too…Damn, was I ever wrong 😳. Also, if I’m not mistaken, Lori and Jason’s father (he’s not Blake’s) played the mechanic in the tv show ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ (?). I can’t swear to it, because I thought it was beyond stupid and I never watched it, but my best friend swooned over one of the main characters 😉.
