Yes! Cornwallis was a Naval Base, between Annapolis Royal and Digby. It was closed when the government shut down a bunch of Military bases in the 1990's (I think)

I'm looking forward to visiting next summer. I am in the process of buying some land there and hope to build a modest home on it. It looks quite nice. Seems like there is a fair amount of things to see and do. I really like the history of the place.

you should try to go to cape breton's cabot trail during fall. I heard its really beautiful, I've only been there during summer.
