Hi Dani. I do understand that you would want to be impartial and diplomatic with all these. However, reiterating clear communication in your video is just gaslighting the Filipino designers and making it their fault for not communicating clearly or even having it in writing. Clear communication will not resolve issues like these especially if one party has a clear intention of taking advantage of another as is the case here. What else needs to be clarified when the discussion points were identified and answered on their exchanges? Also, the value of written contract, like you I am all for that. However, is it the norm in pageantry? If not, then it should be. But crux of the matter is, MUC took advantage of a lot of designers and not even apologetic about it. Where is the decency and humanity in all these? Karma is real.

Michael Cinco gowns are literally worth thousands of dollars, not just pesos. But the fact that they are also working with smaller Filipino designers and not pay them, then not even wear their gowns. The least they can do was wear the gowns in events if they didn't want it worn in the prelims and finals. I mean, MU 2018 edition was full of formal events/dinner/gala. And let the designer know so he wouldn't be clueless that his gowns aren't going to be worn in the stage.

MGmode of Canada said that designers from countries other than the US, Canada and Europe are actually being given favor if their creations are worn by contestants from another country other than their own because it's the world stage. So, yeah, basically you'll have to pay if you use designers from 🇺🇸, 🇨🇦 or 🇪🇺 but you'll get them free from the rest of the world.

First of all, Michael Cinco is a world renowned designer. The billionaires in Dubai line up just to get an appointment with him. They are willing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to even a million just to get one of his creations. He is VERY professional. He did not get to where he is just by being mediocre. For him to do this FREE says alot about his generosity. He does NOT need the "exposure" in Miss Universe. He always has that! He is doing it because of his love of pageantry. Maybe it's a scam they are running during MU events. They ask for gowns from multiple sponsors then sell these when MU is over. If you think about this, it actually makes sense. Dots are being connected. We need the likes of Dani to call out these injustices. Siera must become the MU Canada national director.

It’s amazing how every pageant commentator was able to post videos discussing the situation hours after it became public knowledge. But are slow to condemn the death threats that Miss Canada has been receiving . I will always have major respect for Sierra as she is the only one to condemn these threats SO FAR. Pageant vloggers have a lot of influence in the community and I wish more vloggers would understand that while it is ok to report the happenings and provide their opinions. They sometimes provide fuel for the fire which ends up burning pageant delegates. Dani you have always been fair, very uplifting and redeeming of our queens. Please help by condemning the death threats this Miss Canada is getting. Nova is the face of the organization she isn’t THE ORGANIZATION. The organization can dethrone a Queen with ease because of certain clauses in a contract.

But Rabiya wore same levels as M5, and the fact that they're good friends, I believe she did very well and the gowns are impeccable. What was lacking on her performance is her mental fortitude, styling and stars are not aligned.

it's not that easy to ask M5 for a gown. it is a process. Rabiya needs the approval of the Miss Universe Philippines org to get M5. basically, everything is under the org's approval.😉 how do they come up with the designers they chose to work with, that i don't know. i'm sure M5 is very much willing to dress and work with 🇵🇭.

Thanks Dani for sharing your unbiased thoughts and this is what I like about you. But my take on this whole issue is that things like this are so unnecessary to happen. The MUC organization are totally paying the price for what they did to the filipino designers. I'm not surprised with what they did because Siera has already shared her story a long time ago, and she is vocal about the treatment she got from that organization. They think that spreading negative things about Michael Cinco will make Michael look bad, but it's the other way around and thats the perfect example of KARMA! To Nova Stevens, I'm totally disappointed. Although she was grateful that Michael cinco designed her gown, but she could have apologized to him on that video on behalf of her team and the organization, and yet she didnt. I already have distasteful views about the organization a long time ago. However, my respect for Nova has already vanished. As a filipino who live in Canada, I always show my support to both Filipino and Canadian candidates. It makes me so happy when both of these countries advances in Miss Universe. Now, I don't how I'm going to show my full support to the future Canadian candidates if they are under control with egotistic and ill minded organization. I totally feel bad for that Candidate. Not only she lose the opportunity to get access of gowns from world-renowed fashion designer who dresses grateful royalties, Hollywood celebrities, high- fashion model, etc., but she will also not get support from the filipino pageant community.

I really feel bad for Nova because I think her team put her in a difficult position, and she probably feels pressure to sugarcoat her response. But, of course, she's going to get so much backlash because she's the face of the Miss Universe Canada organization. The MU Canada organization also has a reputation of not treating their delegates with respect, and now it seems they also don't treat designers with respect. MGMode / MUC may have also impacted future Miss Canada representatives which is sad 😪

I feel for Nova because she’s caught between a rock and a hard place. But I’ll never forget in one of your vlogs Dani, you showed yourself at the post office, mailing Thank you cards to sponsors. It stuck with me because gratitude makes a big difference and it (and its absence) is noticed. These designers deserve way more than a kick to the face. I respected Michael when I saw that he worked on these pieces and went out of his way to gift them and the photographs and didn’t blame him one second when he lost it at the (very serious) allegation of sabotage. But to see that prior to that he had first contacted them and asked them to take it down?! He’s a much better person than me…

My lawyer boss told me before that if good faith is absent from an agreement from one or both parties entering into it, no amount of documentation is sufficient to make the agreement hold. I agree that an agreement on paper would make the parties beholden to sticking to what they may have verbally agreed to but in the world of pageantry that piece of paper outlining an agreement between a national organization and a designer might not be worth the ink used to print it mainly because it might not be in the financial interest of a designer to pursue a legally binding action against the other party. At best, he can use it to the extent of proving the other party was deceitful but as for recovering any expense he may have shouldered it's unrealistic. Just my two cents worth.
