Exactly, unfortunately Shapovalov couldn’t take his opportunities, and in the big moments, the world number one just them better. He even said, for like the first two sets, Shapovalov was the better player, but Djokovic was just simply clutch…

We can all say what we want about Djokovic and that he gets angry or that he is disrespectful, he has a big heart for standing up for what he believed in regarding the vaccinations and he seems to be a genuine good sport even through losing (like with Wimbledon 2023) and the care he takes to comfort other players even after he has beaten them. Ultimately, like Djokovic, we are all trying our best and that's enough. Take care.

Djokovic has never been the most aesthetically pleasing to watch, he has no real weapons to speak of, it really is amazing how he has done it. He has different plans for different opponents, he senses really quickly during a match what needs to be adjusted and adjusts accordingly and instantly. He was on the ropes the entire match against Shapovalov yet finds a way to win, how he won that match is mind boggling. Shapovalov was in tears because he knew he should have won, he would have destroyed any other player that day. There is an artistry to what Djokovic is doing maybe even supernatural. His mind is intense yet free, he desires nothing for free, if he wants it he will work like hell to get it. Love him or hate him he will go down as the greatest of all time and his record will stand forever. Unlike most other tennis players who were born with silver spoons in their mouths, he came from a family with very modest means. He is disliked by the tennis elite because he is from Serbia. If he was from the UK, US, Australia, Switzerland, France or Spain the tennis elite would be fawning over him. He is an awesome inspiration and example to anyone that anything can be achieved. I really am lost for words and completely dumbfounded when it comes to Djokovic, forget about going down as the GOAT of tennis, he could well go down as a top 10 sportsman of all time.

@@kunalpjr the tourney he organised mid pandemic rubbed a lot of people rightly the wrong way. He then started to say some interesting things about vaccines (that he has since clarified but hard to undo bad pr). I think another reason is a lot of people don't really care for his tennis. Is it the most effective means of winning tennis, sure, may it lead to him breaking every record, maybe, but it isn't anywhere near as beautiful to watch compared to more offensive player like fed. Having said that some of the best matches I've watched ever have had Novak in it because he a mental giant it it makes for amazing tennis when other players in good form are trying to break him.

I've been a tennis fan for nearly 50 years from the early great Bjorn Borg days of 1974 to present and have seen all of this era's greats. Like him or not, Djokovic is one of the greatest. An unstoppable tennis wonder with unparalleled skills. Congratulations Novak well done and well deserved. Being a Canadian I would have loved to see Shapovalov win but he's young and talented and will have his day soon.
