SAme same brother these are my childhood heros always have been I remember my first board my dad bought me it and I shredded and learned all I could from the older kids that I always thought were the most badasss fuckin shredding the Half pipe at a young age and doing jumps was the most fun thing ever and still is I will make a video soon. Showing my fall to addiction and my way back up 🔝 due to benzos alcohol drugs in general/health problems skateboarding literally almost killed me giving me color to see that this is all about having fun it makes me a kid again it made me happy to be alive. I almost died due to concussion syndrome I am on meds now and doing allot better than what I was doing I’m happy and I want and NEED support for this vid/ movie I’m making about how sk8ing saved my life when I had no place to go no pills no joy just a way to get around and a place to skate.. I found this is HAPPY being aloNe being on a skateboard with these guys you look up to it was my everything and now I realize it saved me multiple times and taught me I can’t fight the wave you just gotta suck it or fuck it- As told to me by a fellow sk8er anyways send support🙏🙏

@Andre Spaz Next month will be two years(!) off methadone. I feel great! The mental was the worst part. It took a bit to become my version of balanced. I've lost weight, bought a house, got a couple promotions at work, gained some confidence back in myself. It hasn't been all easy, but so freaking worth it. Thanks for asking 🙂

I am a recovering addict myself and I have relapsed but I don't and won't give up trying. My periods of being sober are becoming more frequent and I have accepted I am an addict because everytime I have relapsed I end up back to square one .life can be difficult at times but I suppose everyone else has problems and I have realized that coping without alcohol or drugs is a hell of a lot easier. DON'T GIVE UP TRYING. 👍

I know addiction, I've been around addiction, and I've certainly been addicted myself at some point in the past. And one thing I can say is when you go through sobriety and Recovery you're pretty much in for a fight for the rest of your life.... No matter if you do drugs or hardcore stuff like heroin once you recover from sobriety you're never the same ever again. And again it depends on the substance really. Truthfully I am glad to see that dude is doing better and making the right decisions on his part!"

I believe everything you're saying. My last day abusing substances was May 3rd, 2016, and then I went to rehab for 10 weeks and the AA / NA meetings and therapy saved my life. But I rationalized my use and denied the reality just like you and most every other addict does -- and it started the exact same way (very gradually). Not every person who drinks, smokes weed, or uses coke or meth eventually becomes a daily user but the slip into that life can be very, very subtle -- first you start at once a month, or so, and over time the usage and amounts increase. Until it's practically every day.

Hey Brandon! It's good to hear your story, that your staying sober, and giving back. I have a question for you though. Why did you stop skating? I watch the videos I can find of you skating and always wonder why you stopped when you were clearly talented and even on a professional team. I know life is tough and have had my share of addiction issues myself, but playing music has always kept me going. I'm not a pro musician by any stretch and would kill for the chance to have a sustainable living playing music. It seemed like it was right in front of you. Just wondering why you gave it up?

Some times paths diverge. Novak is in a different place spiritually than he has been in the past. It's there. It's in his eyes and the conviction in his words. He's got to do what he sees as best for him right now. Crazy stunts and acts might need to be on pause or a thing of the past for him. Some times things are inextricably interwoven and that sort of thing could put him in a position for relapse. He knows what's best for him and I think he's trying to act on that. Not to say all of that's behind him as, again, only he knows what is in his best sober interest right now.

Some times people have a high sex drive because it will result in children, which is a natural biological drive. And then there is the caring for and raising of the children, which is some thing that seems to have been cast aside by "progress", when in reality it is a fundamental and rewarding experience. You might find joy in day care type work, although it identical to that type of effort applied to ones own off spring. Just throwing it out there. I know the sex drive can be an outlet for other underlying issues too though.

I recently made it to the other side of those withdrawals. Back to feeling normal. My whole thing is I'm just unmotivated and unhappy. I feel like this is going to be my demise and may cause relapse. I just am ALWAYS in a bad mood it seems after getting sober. I'm not walking around all pissed, but I am just not "happy". Any advice on this?

@@Therankinlife I was coming off methadone after heroin and o.c.s and all that. October 1st is my sobriety date and I'm still going strong. I do feel alot better since I posted that though. So hang in there man it gets better I promise. When we use, we like to think after a week or two once it's out of our system we'll go back to normal but it unfortunately is not the case. The brain has alot of healing to do. Sometimes I feel depressed still, but other times i can be happy and optimistic. It's ups and downs man. The BEST thing you can do is get out of the house. I still can feel like shit if I lay around too long. But I notice when I'm at work and not thinking only about how I feel, that I notice I'm actually feeling better and feeling almost normal. I'm still having sweaty palms and feet and still waking up with my back soaked. Once you get going your body drys up and you do actually feel better man. Also a BIG thing to do is to delete and block in your phone anyone who is a possible connect. I couldn't get pks if I tried right now. If you even keep one phone number "just in case" then you are very likely to relapse. Plus you will think about hitting up that person Everytime the withdrawal or emotions get overwhelming. Hang in there man two weeks is not easy and it will only get easier from here. Best of luck my dude. ✊

I am an addict myself and I know some old timers don't think so, but I consider you clean. If your not doing dope your clean in my opinion. Just do what you have to do and don't worry about anyone else. As selfish as you were when you were using, at times you have to be just as selfish to stay sober. Just a fact, so just keep doing what your doing it sounds like the right thing to me! So from one addict to another I know how hard it is to stay clean even when using subs. Take care and peace!!!!!

Thanks man, I am back to my old self. I don't think about dope anymore. But I want to quit subs really bad. But I have a 5 year old boy and 6 year old girl and great wife. So if it takes subs to stay clean. I got to do. I'm down to 4mg a day and have been stuck there forever. But I appreciate it. A lot of people say it's a trade out, but they've never been there. So In the meantime im going to stick with it and keep trying to go lower on mg. but I'd never go back to dope. I'd recommend subs to anyone, they saved me. Thanks again, later
