I am in Brisbane and I have noticed for the past year the used computer parts have gone up on ebay etc, so it is a national phenomenon. My theory is that the cheap parts have been sold out before the AUD went down, so it made new parts more expensive starting from about 2 years ago, and in that 1 year the cheap gear have been exhausted and the used parts we’re getting now are all quite dear. I have 8 of the Radeon 7990s and the cheapest one I got about 2 years ago was $150!!

The best deal I ever was lucky enough to land was an HP Z400 x58 system with 16GB and a Barco graphics card (FirePro 7800) all for $40. The system was super clean as well. Amazingly that was an eBay deal. Some guy had bought an office building and was trying get rid of all the equipment the previous owner left behind. I actually bought some other stuff from him for dirt cheap. I kept the Z400 and flipped the rest. Deals are out there, you just have to be patient and vigilant in looking for a deal.

I honestly love the mix of used and new. It is good to know your opinion on new tech. We also like to see how it stacks up against older offerings. For example, if someone wants too much for their old i7 you can easily recommend a new ryzen 3600 because they have a pretty solid performance for the $200 CPU. It's important to build into a platform that you will want to use for 4-5 years and either you want an old platform to be a banger, or you want to jump into something upgradable like a new ryzen platform. I am a HUGE fan of older intel desktop CPUs like Ivybridge and Haswell, but it mayhaswell be cheap otherwise it ain't worth it.

All 16XX V1, V2, and V3 are all unlocked. Intel locked them down for V4. The 1600's are also good with XMP memory profiles, whereas the 2600's are restricted to the Intel spec. For instance, My E5-1680-V2 (8c/16t) is clocked at 4.7GHz (all core), and running 32GB (8x4GB) 2133 @2400 CL9-11-10-27-54-2t. It was a big upgrade from the E5-2690 (V1) that boosted 2-3 cores to 3.8GHz, and the ram was restricted to 1600MHz. You could add maybe 3MHz to the BCLK, but even PCI-e cards didn't like it too much at 103MHz.

Love your videos, I'm running an i7 4770 and 16gb ddr3 I picked out of a chassis that was part of a load of rubbish that I was taking to the tip for someone. The chassis, PSU, mobbo and mid-range video card went to land fill. I saved the ram and CPU because it fitted on my dashboard. It wasn't until I cleaned the grease off the cpu that I realised what I had. I went to a local computer shop and bought a used motherboard to suit. If the chip makers were able to get significant gains in performance over time you woudn't be selling used PCs and I wouldn't be running trash picked hardware as my main rig.

I don't understand comments like this. It's not like you aren't bringing out any used parts videos anymore. So why wouldn't you stick around just because you cover new hardware as well? This doesn't make any sense to me at all. This doesn't make videos as this one less enjoyable and if you are not interested in new parts at all you don't have to watch it. I am personally here for the used pc parts stuff as well but also because of YOU and your personality so I also like watching the other stuff. Just keep doing what you are doing mate. A lot of people love it and when there are a few people who wanna tell you what content you should put out -> ignore it! Really looking forward to the X58 videos. Much love

I agree, I like the used parts vids for ideas to build cheap PCs for others, but knowing what it costs for new products can put used price parts in perspective, so the new product videos are important too You gotta know what new parts are worth to know if used part prices are a deal, in Sydney at the moment people are asking near new prices for used GPUs & CPUs, so Brians Bargaining tips are coming in handy to get better prices

5:45 this happening to fb marketplace, where some people ( seller for sure) use their second/clone fb account to post ads on, they usually post with 1 pretty high price and one for lower( still not a bargain). And they use different pics so that not many people will notice that and usually will buy from the lower one Same thing happens when they asking to buy used parts from normal user. Using different account to set a freaking lowball (58$ for a gtx 1060 6gb wtf? ) and then a higher ( usually abt 7-80$) and probally normal user will accept that price

Question: i5-3570 vs i7-3770S. Which and why? I know the i5 is better for straight up gaming due to the higher wattage, TDP, and being a 4-core, thread processor with a higher base clock. That said, for multitasking, I think the i7 will truly shine here. 2 more MB of cache (8MB) with 4 cores, 8 threads running at 3.1GHz (at stock, but turboing at around 3.8GHz) makes me think I've not made a bad sacrifice in gaming for the immense gain in multi-thread performance. That and the fact that the i7 uses 65W as opposed to the i5's 75W is also appealing. So again, I still have both of these... if you had your choice, which would you pick and why? Looking forward to your answers!
