Hey Bryan. When your older motherboards won't boot off a USB stick, use a USB dvd instead. I know you hate dvd's but they work fine with older hardware. I install Windows with a dvd drive on every system that I build and never have a problem. Also use a ps2 keyboard with older boards. USB keyboards often don't get recognised until the system is fully operational. Have a great new year. Cheers, Mon from Brisbane

Hey techyescity Do you think i should build a Xeon 5670 build or Should i buy a new ryzen 2600 build ? My budget is 350$ for the x5670 And i can pay 450$ for the ryzen build I'm thinking to flip the pc after some uesage Wich one you recommend me
@yvonnebong33715 жыл бұрын
in my personal opinion, go for latest platform ryzen, because x58 motherboard is really a pain where there's north and south bridge, either one of them ceased to function will cause your pc stop function. If you really like old platform, should consider x79 at least. But not recommended.
@Brandon-uy1uv5 жыл бұрын
you could find used ryzen cpus for cheap on eBay thanks to the people who upgraded xd
@techyescity5 жыл бұрын
Depends what you can get the x58 board for? Both CPUs are going to be fine for handling something like an RX 580. Though thing is, with a lower budget builds you can get away with a less aesthetically pleasing case. So basically you either got the choice to spend more, make it faster and make it look better, or just stick to a strict budget and keep good resale. The in between stuff doesn't work that well, that is are you going to skimp out on case, PSU etc on the 2600 build? It will have better resale value but I am worried about what GPU and other stuff you can get in there for $450...
@ORBPHIL5 жыл бұрын
In my opinon i would still use the Xeon 5670, use triple channel ram, 256-512 ssd for OS, 1 TB HD for games, 600-650 true rated PSU and go with either RX 580, Rx 5700 card. For Nvidia i would go with GTX 1070-1080 but not going more than 2060 super. Try and get all in total to 250 US if u can For future upgradabilty, RYZEN all the way including the other mentioned components. U may spend a bit more on it but the featurrs are undeniable 😁
@mrlithium695 жыл бұрын
Ryzen. No point BUYING into an x58 now. Only good to save money if you already have it. Take it from me, Ive been using the same X58 Sabertooth board for 9 years, and an Xeon X5675 in it for the past 2 yrs. Its fine but its time for me to upgrade the platform.

On the topic of mining boards, any thoughts on the ASUS B250 Mining Expert? On my local Kijiji (Canadian eBay Classifieds/Gumtree) there's 2 listings that caught my eye, 1 is $40 (about $30.41 usd/$43.89 aud) for a never used still in box board with 2 available, the other is $80 ($60.82usd/$87.76aud) for a used board from someone that got out of mining, comes with a Celeron G3930, 4GB RAM & 4xrisers. For a CPU such as the G3930, what GPU would be a better fit for it, a Radeon HD 6850 1GB or RX 470 4GB? If I were to go for it would mainly for Netflix, though maybe some older/light games. Edit: A even better deal I just found for a extra $20, $100 ($76.01 usd/$109.63aud) for a Gigabyte EX58-UD4P, i7-920 with xigmatek dark knight cooler, 6GB OCZ 1600MHZ DDR3 RAM (2GBx3), GTX 760 2GB

I like to use UserBenchmark online comparisons to see *generally* how two graphics cards or cpus compares - it's not a perfect comparison but will tell if one or the other is much faster. Like for the cpus cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-920-vs-Intel-Celeron-G3930/1981vsm235058 shows the G3930 is 15-20% faster on single and dual core, but since the i7-920 has 4 cores 8 threads it performs better when tasks use more than 2 cores. One big plus to B250 & G3930 is you can upgrade the G3930 to a much better cpu later, where the X58 & i7-920 can't too much higher up since the i7-920 is near the top already.

@soupwizard5 жыл бұрын
Look at the mb manual and see how to reset the bios (sometimes there's a jumper you move, sometimes you have to remove power and the cmos battery and wait a while). That will put bios settings back to a failsafe factory setting, maybe that will let it boot, or at least let you get into the bios. Other option is to remove parts until hopefully it boots cleanly, like remove most of the memory, if that doesn't swap what's installed with the stuff you took out, disconnect all hard drives, take out any extra cards, change graphics cards, etc - try to narrow down what piece of hardware could be causing a problem.
