G'day Brian, Yeah used Ryzen in NSW is being listed for 80-90% of new prices, I had a good day parts hunting around Sydney today too, Haul 1: a full i7-3770 PC for $110 including Mouse, Call of Duty MW3 Keyboard & 22" Monitor, Haul 2: 2 old pc cases the guy thought were empty that have full LGA1156 PC inside (more lucky Dips😁), 22" Samsung DP Monitor, Armageddon V1FX case, 3 pack 140mm Thermaltake RGB Ring Fans with controller, Powercolor RX460 all for $100, same guy asked me if I wanted to go halve in selling some other parts he had, so he gave me 4x Pentium (G4400 seald boxes) 2x Biostar TB250 M/B (new) + 1 SUPoX TB250 (new, same as Biostars but different colour), Powercolor RX460 (sealed box) Powercolor HD 7970 (used but with all packaging) & a Sapphire HD7970 DualX with a broken cooler shroud, I also did some shopping at Scorptec, Auburn, for some RGB fans & CPU cooler, the staff are really great there, Lucky I have a Holden ute SS as I almost filled the tray, a big day makes it worth the 2hr drive from Nowra to Sydney as I used $45- $50 petrol so way cheaper than combined postage costs, P.s. Brian you mentioned wanting to try a Pentium G, would you like to swap one of the new ones I got for a LGA1155 M/B? as I was going to sell CPU+M/B sets which will leave a CPU without a board, I have a i5-3*** (can't remember exactly) that has a dead board & am building a PC for my niece with it & the PC RX460, only expectation on M/B would be 24pin Power so I don't have to wait for a adapter & can finish it befor Xmas

Hi Bryan, I have a question regarding selling and buying used parts. Do you check if a part has been stolen or not? Are there any legal requirements for (big) sellers of 2nd hand computerparts and / or used parts in general in Australia? What are your thoughts and experiences regarding the legal aspect of buying and selling stuff on the 2nd hand market? Do you need to give buyers a return warranty for example? Love to know your comment!

In relation to the question of the day, when i bought my 1080 in 2016 it was that, a 1070 or a used 980ti (which were still wildly expensive for how old they were). The benchmarks at the time suggested a 980ti had very similar performance to that of a 1070, not a 1080.

Well the i3 would makes a good mass storage server processor. I still use intel celerons for same purpose, old processor just need to be repurposed for other needs. All you need is 4 to 8 gigs of memory, hard drives, an operating system and a way to network your server to your computers. Mass storage cuts down on redundant programs and data for each computer that you own and make a great on and off site backup system too. i3 is also good for creating a poor man's render farm too for those who like to render pictures on computers.

Great video. Now in 2022 GPU prices are just stupid but I managed to get a GTX 980ti for what 1050ti s go for brand new which is 400 CDN which is pretty much at parity with AUD. Anyway 1060s and 1070s go for double so yeah the price/performance is where it is at with the older flagships right now if you can get a good deal. Hey Brian...saw a post about oem pc with oem motherboard that can't utilize the full processor capabilities due to VRM throttling and the cpu tdp being cut down. It said about the motherboard not using 24 pin like the usual motherboard, so it can't draw the full capabilities of the cpu. It is using only the 8 pin from the psu, so i have doubt about running the oem pc with GTX 1650/1050 ti that won't be using the 6 pin pcie connector. Hope you can make a video comparing oem pc and a gaming pc.

I'm giving my X5675 system to my nephew for Christmas, so I'm in the planning stages of my next build now. I know for sure I want an 8-core, 16-thread system with as much ram as I can afford, practically. So I've been looking at Ryzen, but I actually just spec'd out an X79 system with an e5-2670 and I can get twice the ram there than on Ryzen for half the price. Also, I looked up as many comparisons between that Xeon and ryzen as I could find and it actually beats ryzen in fps in basically any game. That's really not surprising, given my X58 system actually beat my old Ryzen 7 1700 I used to have in basically every scenario as well. So I'm pretty much sold on X79 at the moment. I'm going to try one of those cheap Chinese boards with quad channel memory support because all the other boards are so overpriced, and even if it doesn't work out, I'm always happy to have learned something with a little experiment. Worst case scenario, I wind up sounding the extra money to get another board to make it all work, but I'm not really worried. The Chinese boards seem to do fine for regular use-cases.
