I loved The Briar Club and your live discussion was awesome. Definitely 5 stars for me and I liked the way it was constructed.

I didn't hit all of the Historathon prompts, but my favortie book was for the war/conflict prompt. I read Black Butterflies by Priscilla Morris and highly recommend it. I does a great job of showing how people navigated having their lives completed upended and how they managed to survive. I also read a Beatriz Williams book - The Glass Ocean - she cowrote it with 2 other authors and I really liked that one, too.

I went into a major reading slump during historical fiction. I got the group read at the library but never finished it. I want to get it out again. I read Harry Potter to get out of my reading slump.

I read Mayflower as well. I agree that the last quarter got bogged down.

I started reading Mayflower a couple of years ago and liked the beginning. But I never finished it because I had to take it back to the library. I did learn a lot I didn't know about the history.

Mayflower sounds interesting, I hope to read it eventually. I read some great books in November. My two favorites were Peace Like A River and The Life We Bury.

I had a great reading month in November because historical fiction is my favorite. I did pretty well with the readathon too. Across The Ages by Gabrielle Meyer, Born of Gilded Mountains by Amanda Dykes and We We Were The Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter were some of my favorites.

Reading slump: read a favorite author, or reread a favorite book, or take a few days just don't read books, look at magazines, do crossword puzzles, adult coloring and jigsaw puzzles Just clear your mind. I only read one book for Historathon A Brilliant Night and Stars and Ice by Rebecca Connelly about the ship that rescue the Titanic survivors. I wanted to read more, but never got to it, had a library book came in and had to read it quickly since there was a list in the library on the book

I may have missed this question but are you going to do another ‘book club’ book group read? I have been in a reading slump but am getting ready for Onyx Storm in January so I am rereading Iron Flame.

As a former Texas history teacher, I did not like The White Rose of Texas. It wasn’t realistic and the author tried too hard to put the main character into too many historic situations. Oh, and every man who met her fell in love with her.
