I use my craftsman II lt4000 14hp to haul wood with double axle dump 6x4 trailer. Things been threw hell had a tree fall on it during high winds a few years back so now its a wood hauler. Mines got a atv rack on the hood with gun racks mounted to hold my saws. Fits my gas can and chainsaw bag too.

It needs a set of mini wheelie bars. Straight pipes coming out of the engine cover will look cool.

I'm looking at my GT6000 wiring and the red wire feeds into the diodes and then the red and orange wires go to my PTO switch with one red DC wire from the diodes going to the battery side of the solenoid. All you need to do is put your multimeter to AC and check between ground and the red wire from the alternator to see if there is voltage there and double check it in DC mode. The battery won't like AC voltage that does not get rectified through the diodes. 😉

Great Video... I have a little info for you: I have the basically same machine as this, only the generation later, which are "round" bodied. Otherwise, same machine. (I also have a 1970 Sears SS16, which is the Identical transmission, other than they replaced the band brake with a small disc) Bulletproof. Hold onto the tranny thought.... Mine is a 2004, which was the last year of the geared hi/low 6spd. When i bought it it came with a "complimentary" carryall deck that drops on the rear sloped hitch. We'll let me tell you that that "carryall" is Brilliant. Why? Well if you fill it with brickes (which fit Perfectly, you get Both a rear weight (right where you want it- down low) And a built-in Wheelie bar. (the carryall sets down low behind you). But it can Can pivot up, so if you did do a wheelie, it would rock upwards and not dig in like an anchor. It is the Perfect traction device. But it's also Safe because unlike a fixed rear weight, if you do do a wheelie such as you did here a few times... well like a wheelie bar won't will stop you from going over backwards. Another great thing about this last generation GT5000 is that If you got the Kohler (Command) engine, the carburetor actually has an Accelerator Pump on it. (the Chinese knock-off carbs on Amazon often have dummy pumps tho) So that is Ideal for doing the pulley swap and rigging in a gas pedal. As for your steering- it all wears out and it's All simple to replace.. the end links, steering kink rod, etc. Most of the slop comes from the bad rack & pinion at the bottom of the steering column. They call it a "sector gear" and is easy & cheap to replace. Also the Pivot that the front axle rides on in the middle... just a bold with a nylon bushing. I replaced mine with a new bushing, but you could source a bonze one if the nylon sears part isn't available. I also swapped that bolt for a stainless steel one so when i leave it outside it won't rust in the bushing (there's no grease fitting) Anyhow, the entire front end is So easy to swap all to new. If you want they even make little aftermarket "cheap power steering" kits which are just Thrust bearings you fit onto the spindles. Okay, sorry for the long post... here is what i really have to say (that You might appreciate which most won't).... Everyone believes that that rear end is always One-wheel drive. It ISN'T! The rear on that tractor Will Lock Up, IF you can give it enough traction (which very rarely happens). So for instance, if you had it on tar, And you had enough weight on the machine And enough weight on the front that it couldn't pop a wheelie too easily, Then Both wheels will dig in and give you full traction going forward. You look like a good size guy... put a weight on the back (100lbs) and go get on some grass or dirt and put it in Low/low and watch both wheels dig a hole. So, not sure if Any of that helps, but at least i had Someone to share it with who might appreciate it. If you rig it to do over 10mph (i'd like to rig mine to do 15-20), then you may want to think about adding a brake(s) beside just the one on the Trans ~ Thanks!

That is not a regulator on that engine it's a set of diodes set up as a rectifier to convert the AC to DC. I think the back wire from the alternator is ground and of course the red is the hot. The engine manual, should have the diagram. I also have the chassis manual for that, I'll try and send it to you later today.

Until you get the suspension, let some air out of the front tires so it don't land so hard.
