I cant believe no one has suggested "Sugar" by Sleep Token yet. His voice is so powerful towards the end, and the buildup is so well done. Sugar is definitely a much more linear song, but god does it slap.

This band is honestly something else, from the captivating atmospheric dream-like beauty to the intense breakdowns. Vessel's voice is incredible and the drums are pretty crazy when you focus on them during those breakdowns. I'm glad you and so many others can relate to how I feel about these lads. Truly insane. A couple of my favourites I'd suggest listening to are Jaws and The Offering.

As far as the lore goes, Vessel's lyrics all revolve around a deity called Sleep, who he met in a dream and creates music as a form of worship. There is some talk of Sleep being another form of an ancient Norse goddess (I forget which one), so it seems the lyrics are about Vessel's relationship with Her. The brilliant thing about his writing is that it can be interpreted many ways, so the average person can relate to it, even if we've never been caught in the grip of an ancient deity.

They do have a variety of sound, from intense songs like "Vore" to calming tracks like "Aqua Regia", so if one song doesn't work, set it aside and try the others if you liked this track. I'd personally recommend "Granite" and "Alkaline" as they have the closest sound to Chokehold

FINALLY!!! I've been stuck in a ST black hole since I learned about their existence last year. Can't even listen to much other music anymore. It has been such a wonderful journey to experience every song from the early beginnings to the latest releases from the upcoming album and it has also been very therapeutic for me. Every song has lyrics that hit a bullseye somewhere, giving me so much to think about when I can't sleep. Every time I listen, I am able to hear more, go deeper, and get completely devoured by the music. I have never experienced this with any other band. Ever. Yes, I'm obsessed. Do I care? No. I'm just waiting for the May 19 album release. That's all I care about right now. lol

Sometimes when you're trying to explain how you feel about something off the cuff, trying to turn it into a cohesive, tangible thing with words doesn't work until you have the time to think through it. I 100% agree about different interpretations. I just came back to this song today and it hit me very differently because of a personal... sensual experience. I think their 2 newest songs are the epitome of the breadth of their abilities. To release Vore and then follow it with DYWTYLM is absolute musical whiplash but they both feel like exactly what this band should be doing. Going back to the beginning of their catalog thru to now you can see both an evolution and an absolute loyalty to their own sound. They are my absolute favorite discovery.

This song is such a masterpiece! The confusion on your face is hilarious man 🤣 loved your reaction! Personally I'm a huge lyricist, and even though their instruments result in constant eargasms, the lyrics is the absolute main reason I love this band so much. The way they write creates this freedom for every individual to find their own personal meaning in the song. You can easily intepret these lyrics as if someone wrote a song whilst being in a toxic relationship. If you'd ask me, alot of their songs are about the relationship you have with yourself, as each and everyone of us have both masculine and feminine energies/counterparts in our DNA. Our reality is build around these 1's and 0's. The line "beneath the stormy seas, above the mountain peaks, it's all the same to me, it makes no difference." always makes me think about duality, or non-duality. The masculine & feminine also represent earth & the divine and body & spirit. Just like The Summoning, Chokehold to me sounds like the masculine counterpart singing to the feminine counterpart, wanting to collaborate.. 🥺🖤🤍 Genious to write about archetypes which respresent basically all other polarities in our realm, because that way you can interpret the song however you like, which results in so much meaning in so many different ways. Like, there's not a single person on this planet that can't find meaning in this song. Infinitely beautiful.. ❤️‍🔥

My kids and I love Sleep Token. The Summoning is our favorite song. We have had conversations about how this makes us feel. It’s like being on a rollercoaster on acid or mushrooms and tripping colors. This band makes you feel so many things all at once. I’ve never found another band like them.

Sleep is a deity, the singer is his "vessel" and goes by Vessel. Some say the lyrics are in worship to that deity, but they're so obviously relationshipy (ex)love songs. many about breakups and moving on. Which really resonates with me right now, fresh of the heals of a breakup.
