Now or never!
We're not suggesting that you get a new Si and never consider getting a used one. We mean, do you buy a new Si now or save the money, hassle and stress, and just get a nice used one (or even a manual Civic).
We take a look at Chris' 2014 Civic EX to hear from our resident Honda expert. We look to see if the 2024 Civic Si is more of an evolution than a revolution, because if so, you might be almost as happy with a nice used used one that won't break the bank.
Let's take a look!

New set of auto Canadian KZbinrs to watch. Hope uou guys remember us OGs when you're as big as TheStraightPipes. The 11th gen Si is the best car I've ever owned.

Does the piped an audio sound different in this model than in the 23 model?

Good question. Hopefully others can answer since I wasn’t lucky enough to try one last year. I have to say it sounded good. A little fake but refined and sporty. The actual exhaust has a little rumble and sounds great for factory now a days.

Are the engines different in Canada? A 2014 Civic Si in the US has a 2.4 liter engine good for 200hp.

Good question! I believe they are the same. The 2014 is an EX. We couldn’t source a used Si and the EX 5speed manual was a fun car. We wanted to see if a nice used manual Civic (especially an Si) would be a good alternative.

The Canadian market 2014 Civic Si had the exact same 200hp 2.4L K24 motor with a 6-speed and LSD as the USDM model did. Like Terrance mentioned, my car is the 2014 EX 5MT which has the standard 1.8L R18 motor with an open diff 5-speed. I do believe the EX 5MT sedan was a Canadian exclusive model though; I'm pretty sure the 5-speed was only offered on the LX and lower sedans for the USDM model.

my guy just your opinion, should I go for the 2023 Jetta GLI or the 2023 330i? Looking to try the German brand.

It’s been a long time since I drove a BMW sedan but I did a GLI and was impressed! Great car for the money! More unique and less expensive to maintain I’d imagine. Both great!

Why compare a regular 9th gen civic to an 11th gen Si...specially driving them?! this shit dont make sense?!

Good question. Short answer is I’m not Top Gear lol. Meaning I’m just starting out and still working full time and do everything myself so last minute I can’t whip up a pristine used Si for a video. I thought it still had merit making because I need to learn and grow the channel by doing different kinds of videos (drag races, track tests, comparisons, full walk arounds, etc.) and because viewers may not have a tone in their area but might have normal 5 speeds. Hopefully now that manufacturers are giving me press cars and the subscriber base is growing, maybe more people will be willing to loan me a car. Would you go Si or Type R if it wasn’t about money? I’m on the fence. I don’t know what more you want if you never track and it’s more dailable?

I think this comparison is also relevant, not because the 2014 EX 5MT and 2024 Si are an apples-to-apples comparison, but because the 2024 Si is the only way you can still get a Civic sedan with a manual in North America. The Civic has always been known to be a sporty yet efficient compact car (especially with a manual). With the 1.5T now adding efficiency to the existing Si formula of power and sportiness, the current Si is effectively the spiritual successor to those prior generation manual economy sedans. If you're someone like me who still has a 9th gen 5-speed sedan and you want a new manual Civic, you either have to get the Si or you have to go for the hatchback. This then begs the question we explored here; is it worth upgrading that older generation Civic sedan to the Si?
