Been playing this game for more than a decade, when it comes to FFNY, my go to style is Submissions (or Wrestling) because using one of these two styles enables you to do a Strong front grapple and switch to a Rear grapple, since the game punishes you if you're using the same moves more than twice in a row, these two styles allows you for an easy access to more variety. The other 3 styles don't let you do that, and if you pick Sub or Wrestling as the 2nd or 3rd style, you cannot do that still, they have to be one of your 1st style. The pros and cons to each style is that : - Martial Arts : You can give faster strikes and it's easier to counter your opponent BUT you're much weaker in terms of damage and sometimes the style disable other styles to have some KO moves. - Street Fighting : Well obviously the power of your punching moves are stronger but you're a little too predictable. - Kickboxing : A great style to combo your opponent BUT the game will often penalize you for using it, meaning less money. It's probably the best fighting style of them all. - Wrestling : Access to easy rear grapples BUT you're a little one sided as your best option is always to grapple. - Submissions : Weakening a limb means less damage from the opponent BUT it's an extremely slow (as in you cannot win fast with it) and boring style to some players. My go to combinations are mostly (IN THE WRITTEN ORDER): - *Submissions* (it's the most basic one but the Sleeper hold is a very broken submission in the early game). - *Kickboxing* (It's the beginning style but it's litterally the ONLY Kickboxing style that lets you use the Kickboxing's punch combo as the strong grapple, as all other additional styles will automatically be assigned to the punch moves). - *Submissions + Kickboxing* (The submissions are quite effective with it and it makes your win condition much faster, there's a very good Submission moves with it). - *Wrestling + Kickboxing* (You can KO someone so fast with it as it combines the most useful combo of the Kickboxing with the heavy moves of Wrestling that can KO opponents). - *Submissions + Wrestling* (If you switch the order of these two styles you have a different set of moves and submissions to use, it's the style that fits a pure wrestling game style as well as a pure Def Jam Vendetta gameplay).

This game had so much content and is the definition of the 2000's bling era. Despite being a licensing hell because a lot of the playable rappers did not get payed for it. Plus almost all of the roster would nowadays be put behind a paywall which is the sad truth about fighting games. You even could have friends come over and have him use his memory card to have his CaC fight against yours. Sure the story mode could get a bit dragged out at the 2nd half of the story with fighting at the same venues or slightly modified versions of them but it wasn't as noticable when the fighting itself is so satisfying. This game had everything. Supers, stage finishers, a ridiculously large roster where literally everyone who appeared in the game one way or another is playable, a solid 2000's soundtrack list, and a shit ton of costumizable options for your CaC. Man I miss this game. This and Vendetta were fun to play with. Icon ruined and killed the franchise unfortunately. I even still remember the rumors back then of a new FFNY version with extra characters like 50 Cent, Eminem, 2Pac and Biggie.

1. for anybody who’s never played this game and wants to give it a try, first off emulation is your best bet unless you want to pay 150-200$, or know somebody that has the game already. 2. when you play this game, DO NOT MASH BUTTONS. it’s not a street fighter/mortal Kombat style fighting game. it’s a fighting game with wrestling game controls. (grapple button, one punch button, one kick button, a run button, and L1/L is your modifier.) 3. for your first time, DON’T PLAY ON HARD, and DON’T choose martial arts as your first fighting style or you’ll most likely give up quickly. STREETFIGHTING, is the easiest style to use (it’s also the best speed running style). (Look at number 4 if hard mode doesn’t intimidate you.) 4. if you want to make the best character statistically possible, choose Martial Arts, Streetfighting, & Kickboxing, in that order. 5. YES, JEWELRY makes a difference, the more expensive your jewelry is the faster your “blazin” (finisher) meter fills up. 6. getting “perfect” matches & getting more points by doing more moves, gives you more money to spend, so make the matches LAST, don’t end them quickly. try to use your blazin 4-5 times in EVERY MATCH. 7. USE THE ENVIRONMENT, using the crowd is a good thing but DON’T try to use the crowd as a way to end the match. USE THE WALLS/CAGE. 8. THANK YOU MAX, for showcasing one of the greatest games of all time, (my second favorite).

Please stop overhyping MA + SF + KB (the second and third order of styles do not matter, btw). While this fighting style is considered top tier, there are 10 other style combinations in the S tier category and 7 other styles in the A tier category. Also, jewelry is not THAT important. Your charisma stat is not just affected by your jewelry. You will gain charisma for doing a certain amount of crowd moves, blazin' moves and reaching certain story thresholds and beating the story itself. I have 2 fighters who don't even wear jewelry (for aesthetics reasons) and they do just fine filling up their Blazin' meter as their charisma stat is already at like 85%.

This was one of my favorite, underrated gems of that year (2004). Story mode is basically the classic hip hop/turf war tale that features prominent hip hop/rap artists of the day in respective roles and fighting for D-Mob (Actor that is known for Kratos and Lee) and Crow (essentially a ruthless don version of Snopp Dogg) and you fight for D-Mob and Blaze (Method Man). This gets dark and brutal real fast (ranging from Subway Fun, to win you have to stun a person on a track at the right moment to get mutilated by an oncoming train or the climatic penthouse window battle where you have to knock the living shit out of the opponent into a window that breaks and spells their death) and playing it again, I found for newcomers, you have to go hard, fast, utilize the environment effectively, use the modifier to pull off different moves, and use the blaze mode for either a massive damage hit or if done right, KO. Matches can last either 30 seconds or a few minutes depending on how tough the opponent is. Glad people are discovering this one of a kind gem that you couldn't even make nowadays.

A thing I do at the Foundation is get my stamina/special meter up with taunts. Once it starts to slow down I grab the weapon on the subwoofer & then taunt a few more times before starting the fight. A faster way to build up the meter would be to grab that weapon 1st then taunt. Your opponent will stand there & watch you, you must move toward them to start the fight. More good advice - In the FFAs of 4 or 3, it's sometimes best to let 2 opponents fight each other. You can recover health & taunt to gain back stamina/special meter. Street Fighters are good for making lots of money, that is once you get good enough to play around with your opponent. I wouldn't mind for the Def Jam crew or another crew to just make a game around the combat of Fight for NY. Really what made it more interesting was the iconic Rappers, but the combat was really fleshed out than most of us realised. just to correct the intro, Def Jam didn’t have every big rapper in the early 2000s, they did have huge names though. The reason there’s so many rappers from other labels in this game is cuz the first game was huge so it was seen as exposure for the rapper/label to be in the sequel. @joeybagodonuts21982 жыл бұрын
@@MansMan42069 Martial Art wall runs, although can KO, in most cases, get blocked, whiffed punished, or missed. The split kick can at least hit people laying on the ground and still KO them. I did not advise Martial Arts as his first style, I did help Max learn the mechanics and helped him to start building a top tier easy to use build (that requires Martial Arts as the STARTING STYLE because that is the only part of the style ORDER that dictats builds outside of the combination of styles). I also helped prevent him making a build that would have made the playthrough a struggle The advantages of Martial Arts tho are the following: Faster block canceling when Martial Arts is your Primary style (meaning 1st style), he had Parry + (allows for most punishes on parry scenarios and does health and like damage) I helped prevent him turning it into Parry - (also known as the judo throw) Martial Arts also gets most of the games safe moves that are full of I-frames and are even safe to parries Like the scissors kick move he got as a heavy kick when he added Street Fightering. There are actually many great uses to Martial Arts, the wall run is just arguably without a doubt the worst imo, unless you give yourself Parry -, than that is worse than the wall run. That aside, Martial Arts is actually super useful, you just have to understand the game utilize it

Just emulating the PS2 version is enough to see how much fidelity and good looking this game is even 18 years later now. Not to mention, I found the best way to deal with that spike is to rely on building stats and getting a handle of when to strike, counter, and utilizing the environment to whittle him down until you literally can KO him at the start. Once you pass him, you can build your points to get new styles and some big finishers. That's nothing compared to the major jump in difficulty, the moment you have to deal with special area conditions tied to the story (first being Danny Trejo assassination attempt and having to defeat him by having him get total by a train).
